+1 I only played MGS online a handfull of times and was extremely disappointed, not to mention the insane amount of time just setting everything up.
But RE5 has suprisingly proven pretty fun, both offline with a friend and online, even after multiple play throughs.
Yes definitely. MGS4 is such a great game and a great experience. You NEED MGS4. RE5 (while worth the money) is just a good game that is behind the times a bit but still fun and a blast with a friend.MGS hands down.

It depends on what you want
stealth - MGS4
shoot everything that moves - Resident Evil
Between the two I would probably go with which ever is cheaper then pick up the other one later.
MGS4 is in another league.
MGS4 fixed the problems of the last game, and pinnacled the series.
RE5 added problems and issues to the series.
RE5 is a good game, but it does not even come close to the master piece that was RE4.
Also MGO is a very deep game if you put time(a lot of time) into it, but I can understand it not being every bodies cup of tea.
Definitely MGS, MGO is alright (RE5 versus is a waste of cash, don't buy it I did it sucks). Seriously though, MGS4.
It's not hard at all... MGS4 is wayyyy awesome and as exclusive for PS3 as it can get....
It's a must-have title! BUT if you haven't played any Metal Gear Solid game before you might have to face 30-60 minutes of learning curve to play to game. Take your time and enjoy the game!
