Oh come on now, it may not deserve a 10, I dont believe any game does, but there is plenty great about it. It had a wonderful story line and improved on everything all the other games were lacking. It was one of the best sequals to any game, ever.

It was one of the best games ever, period. I can only compare the GTA series with the God of War games without determining which one is better.
GTA IV was good but it wasn't one of the best games I've ever played. The storylines are so stupid so they try to compensate by taking themselves too seriously which is just made worse by some bad writing and/or voice acting at times. The cover system is done poorly, the driving physics are decent at best. GTA IV just threw a whole bunch of content into the game and let people have at it. I give it a 9 out of 10; and that's just cuz there's a lot to do, not because any of it is done well.
People say that GTAIV's story is so amazing...but to me it's pretty cliche and mundane...
It really starts to wear thin when you realize that pretty much every single drug deal that's ever made in GTAs world can and will go horribly. There's just so much useless repitition, predictability, followed by more repitition, and then an extremely lukewarm payoff in the revenge storyline, even though that was being dangled in your face the entire game.
That's the UK review, the other IGN review could be .1 higher.
@ the GTA comments about storyline, I think the GTA storyline is great because its so big. It is necessarily all the highest of quality but its damn good considering how many missions and how interactive the environment is.
Yeah, before GTA IV this 9.9 would really make me excited, but now I just think that some reviewers are caught in the hype. Sure, GTA IV is a good game, but a 10? Hell, it's far from it. I even saw some people say Nico is the most human character to ever be in a videogame. He's ironic ALL the time, he reminded me of a Gilmore Girls character or something.

GTA4 is a great game, im a die hard GTA fan, but i can honestly say, gta4 had some flaws just like most games and didn't deserve a 10. A 9.5 would have been just about right, that game is awesome
