MGS4 big boss emblem talk / help

search youtube for a video and work from that.

for the first doll, it is on a bed. are you sure you stunned the first form?

make sure to stock up on emotion ammo and all other types of tranqs (SG mines, chaff, etc).

to get though w/ no alerts, make sure to save after each area and keep multiple files. you just have to take the shortest path to the exit and memorize the paths of the enemy. this is where the videos help.

by far the hardest part is the last part of the bike chase. so research the way to do it before trying.

here are some tips:

save when ever u reach a new area in case u get an alert.

dont waste time on playing the mgs1 part (it just wastes time out of your 5 hours)

save the game before the next chapter installs..that way u can then install the chapter, then load the game u saved before the install and move stright on to the next chapter without wasting time out of your 5 hours on the install screen

(I'm pretty sure u know this tip already but I'll say it anyway)- skip cutscenes!!! wastes A LOT of time

skip mission briefing as well

-personally I think u r crazy trying to get the big boss emblem (either crazy or a proffesional mgs player) I dont see why bother being so frustrated just to have the word "big boss" on the screen at the end of the game..but good luck anyway

it will take you longer than 5 hrs.you will play each area multiple times, unless you get lucky.

the first area w/ pmcs is also fairly hard b/c you don't have the solid eye. so don't get discouraged. I am far from a pro at this game and i beat in 3 hrs and 10 or so minutes. it would have been under 3 if i had beat CW the fast way instead of hiding under the truck. it is not as hard as it seems.

also another tip, the camo doesn't help that much the the boss extreme. it is just the fact that you are laying down and not moving. so don't waste time waiting for the camo to change.

also, in act 3, make sure to take out the guards ahead of the resistance member so that he takes the short path.but don't get to far ahead of him or he won't move. you can also use a face mask (beauty mask, drebin, colonel, otacon) and the pmcs wont bother you until you attack them. then you need to change masks.

thats the second doll. the first one is in the underground exit after beating the cr@p out of those frogs in act 1.

Hey i got the emblem so heres a few tips:

Try to have 50 min or less in each act

Get a lot of tranquilizer/emotive ammo/weapons from previous walkthroughs

DONT FORGET to pick up the Solar Gun before you start on The Boss Extreme

Remember, on the chase scenes Auto Aim can be a really good ally

The "Beast" bosses can be leathaly killed without being count as kills, just DONT KILL the Beauty bosses

Save a lot of Chaff Grenades for Act 4

Use the Rail Gun to kill Gekkos in a Stealth way, so you dont have to waste that many Chaff Grenades

Move out and engage, good luck

here are some tips:

well it took me like 4 or 5 days to get it.. it's just VERY GODAMN HARD =P. i also thought.. only 5hours? i can do this in a day. NAWT! =P

totally agreed!

it will take u way more then 5 hours..my friend got the big boss emblem..toke him 9 hours becuase of so many parts he had to replay...

also when u reach the screaming mantis- dont make the same misstake I did and shoot the wrong doll (that controlls the dead)

If you want to achieve the Big Boss emblem I'd suggest you follow these steps:

1) Get the SOLAR GUN(You would want to use it in the Eva chase IT IS RECOMMENDED seriously recommended)
2) Buy the the .50 cal sniper rifle to take out Gekkos.(Vamp vs Raiden in act 4, use the .50 cal not the rail gun)
3) Make use of Smoke and Stun grenades. (Eva chase recommended)
4) Don't run when the ennemy is close by even if he's not looking towards you, he will look back and trigger the alert.
5) Crouch and Crawl are your best friends.
6) Make use of the octocamo + face camo.
7) During the frogs fight with Meryl, use sleeping mines and the Mark II will be really useful.

Boss fights tips:

1) Laughing Octupos:

Don't waste your time with the rail gun it won't do much damage to her. Pick up the .50 cal sniper rifle and start shooting her.In this fight use the .50 cal even when she's shooting at you with her P90, she will fall on the ground. And when she does, keep shooting. If you're going for stamina kill, use stun grenades or Mosin Nagant.

Hint: To make the fight finish faster, I'd suggest you memorize the places she hides in and the mimicks she does.

2) Raging Raven:

STAY IN THE BASEMENT! You can finish the fight within a minute of you encountering her. Trust me.

Prepare your rail gun. Equip your solid eye, she's the big circle on the radar. QUICKLY head to the nearest window and FULLY charge the rail gun. Direct hit her, depends how accurate your shot was, it might remove more than 2 full bars of her health. Once the hit is done, prepare the .50 cal. sniper because she will enter the basement immediatly so start shooting her and she should be down in secs.

3) Crying Wolf

30 secs fight! YES just 30 secs and even less. Equip the Night Vision all the time.

Prepare the grenade launcher that you get from Raven. Change the grenades to STUN grenades. Also prepare SMOKE grenades. Now first take out the 3 frogs in front of you. In most cases she is usually in front of you. If you see her sneak quitely and in order for the trick to work SHE SHOULDN'T notice you at all. If she sees you the trick will not work, and she will just start firing her rail gun at you. Once you're close enough throw a smoke grenade in front of her and wait until she says, "I can't see" or something like that. Quickly pick the grenade launcher(STUN) and start shooting her. 10 secs and she's down.

4) Screaming Mantis

Prepare your mosin nagant, Mk-22, P90 and .50 cal sniper rifle.

Use the Mosin Nagant for long range targets. When Mantis starts holding bodies and Meryl included in an attempt of her blocking the way to shoot her dolls, start shooting the frog and Meryl with the sniper(Mosin) so that they fall on the ground. If they are close to you use the Mk-22/Solar gun. If they are all tight really annoying and you want them all to suddenly fall down, shoot the Sorrow Doll. Now in this fight I want you to focus on the Mantis doll, you don't have to take out the Sorrow doll because you don't need it. When she is close to you pick up your P90 and start shooting at the Mantis doll. When she is far, pick up the .50 cal and aim at the doll and shoot it. Repeat the process until the doll falls. Don't forget to inject Meryl from time to time with the syringe. Or you can just shoot her with either the Mosin Nagant or Mk-22.

Hint: The most annoying part in the fight is when she starts throwing those steel boomrang at you which take out much of your health. To counter them DON'T roll or crawl, it won't help. Just keep running left/right.

5) Vamp

LOL. He's a vamp and vampires' weakness is the sunlight. Pick up the solar gun and fully charge it and shoot him. One hit, and he's down. Pretty fast huh? It will instantly take out his whole psyche bar. Then just grab him and syringe him and voila.

6) Rex vs Ray

First thing you want to use is the machine gun. Then just focus on 2 things. The laser and the missiles. If the missiles are out, switch to machine gun or use a melee hit. Equip the laser and let it charge until it beeps then aim at Ray and shoot it, when it's down switch to missiles and shoot everything at him. Repeat the process and he should be down.

Hint: If he launches missiles at you I'd recommend you switch to machine gun and start shooting them before they hit you. Don't bother escaping, waste of time and health. And don't let Ray get near you, always back out before he performs his melee attack on you which takes out alot of your health bar.

7) Liquid Ocelot fight

Use the "x" button frequently to dodge his deadly spears and powerful punches. Stay away from him as much as possible. That's all I can say.

General hint for all fights except for Liquid Ocelot:

If you're running out of health/psyche and you'd like to restore them really fast follow these 2 steps and you should be good:

1) Pick up the emotive magazine and view it and this should restore your psyche fast.

2) Crawl(don't move) on the ground where the bosses can't hit you and this should regenerate your health.

If you're stress is really high and you can't aim correctly use Pentazamine/equip the flower looking like thing in the item menu.

That's all I can think of right now. Good Luck. More questions ask.

Forgot the most important part. You're going for the Big Boss emblem right? Well this means 0 kills. Ok first of all when you encounter the frogs(act 1) use either the Mk-22 or Mosin Nagant BUT BE VERY CAREFUL, don't shoot them while they're on the walls or roofs hanging, if they sleep while doing so they will fall on the ground and this will kill them which will count as a kill although you used a non-lethal weapon. Act 2 on the APC, those suits guy that come to you in the first stage of the APC fight, these are humans and not robots so you should use non-lethal weapon too. I'd recommend you equip your M4 custom and add a shotgun to it and change the shells to "V.Ring" or blank shells I forgot which one it is. And start shooting them. Same goes with zombies. Either CQC them or shoot them with shotgun(after changing the shells).

I thought you can't use Octocamo, because I looked at the hints and cheats for MGS4 on this site, and one of the requirements for the Big Boss Emblem was "no stealth suit". Sony_dude

By stealth suit they mean no stealth camouflage and no bandana.

Wow these are some nice tips. I have the emblem, but wished I had these tips earlier, it would have saved some time and fustration.

can somebody please tell me if i have to tranquilize / vring / whatever to the bosses to get the dolls. is it just the first, just the second beauty stage or both?monoxide582

you only need to tranq the first form for the dolls as they appear while the second form is out. also remember about the frog doll in act 1 in the garage (don't kill any frogs in the battle w/ meryl).

*note* there is no way to tranq Mantis. just fight normally and the doll is in the hallway where you came in.
