so a long while back I made a post on a diff forum about this game. I told the people there that I absolutely sucked at stealth games, and had no experience with them. They told me that in order to beat MGS4, I would probably have to play the game on the easiest difficulty setting (I think its called "Naked Easy") but it was piss easy. I beat the game with like 35 rations to spare, not to mention a crap load of other healing items, tons of ammo, etc. So I decided to bump it up, and I have to ask, how much more difficult can the next difficulty be? I know it will ramp up the challenge a bit, but its not like it will be ball-crushing right? Just looking for a little perspective, because the Naked Easy setting is just waaaaayyy to easy.

Just bump it up to the next difficulty. Then if you think that is too easy bump it up again.

to be honest, MGS 4 isn't very hard to survive on at least the 3 easiest dificulties. The real challange is to do it gracefully. like hunting for items without being spotted or taking out your enemies with CQC. also some ofthe bosses can be a bit tricky.

if you've played though the game on liquid easy (or whatever it was) then I'd recommend solid normal. it's a bit more of a challange. also try to set up goals for yourself.. like finnish the game without being spotted or without killing anyone. or try to get all the B&B statues by beating the bosses with non-leathal weapons.

have fun!

I thought it was easy even on default (solid normal?), so you probably should've started with that. If you do want challenge, especially with the stealth gameplay, you pretty much have to go to the hard ones because enemies will be much quicker to spot you.

you really haven't experienced metal gear when you play it on easy.

Why be so afraid if a game is hard i mean all you have to do is press continue and try again, amirite?

because breaking a 50 dollar game controller when I chuck it at a wall after my 5000000th try to beat a particularly tricky segment will really put a dent in my wallet...

Playing it on Bigboss here (i think the setting is called).

It isn't toooooooooo difficult but there can be some tricky moments. Particulary the motorcyle part :S.

mmmmmmmmmm, games are sooooooo much more satisfying when you beat them on the harder difficulties though...

exactly ^

MGS4 is meant to be playable/doable by any kind of gamer. How you choose to actually do it, it is entirely up to the player.

BBE and TBE modes are difficult by any standards though.

personally i beat all of mgs4 difficulty. I played on liquid easy in order to get items, emblems and get guns to prepare for The Boss Extreme. Liquid easy is way too easy. so crank it up to naked normal, if you are going to shoot your way through. this is as far as you will get. you wont be able to beat the game on solid normal without sneaking.

I shall remember this if I ever decide to play through the game on Big Boss Extreme. Thanks for the tip!

I will say that some parts are farely easy to get around, but not every thing.

Just fyi you can cheese crying wolf by just crawling under the APC that is in the begining of the level and just staying there for the rest of the match.

I found some of the bosses a little tricky, trying to beat them with non leathal weapons. but none of them were too hard to beat. just hard enough to make it a challange. (Solid Normal dificulty on first playthrough.)

yeah so I have blasted through the first three acts of MGS4, and while I have been detected more than I would like (a lot more actually, I am up to like 35 or something), I have managed to survive with only 1 continue, which is good. However, I know that in Act IV, you have to sneak past ghecko, and I am guessing that they are less easy to take down if you get spotted. Sneaking past them was pretty simple on Naked Easy, but on this level, enemies do detect you more often, so here's hoping I can find the right way to go. Also, those damn little bots that are all over Act IV are pretty friggin annoying. There are just too damn many of them, they cover the room from every angle!
