I didn't really like the game at first but now I am really getting to like it. I loved 1, liked 2, but never played 3.
I'm guessing im about 6 hours in and just killed Laughing Octopus (with the dart gun [took bleeding ages] and forgot to pick up the statue lol), so how long is the single player on moderate difficulty. You can count the cutscenes if you want seeing as I watch them all.
Also just to add, I think Laughing Octopus ios one of my all time favourite bosses now, when she hid in the boxes I laughed my head off.

toke me about 18 hours to complete it in my first playthrough..watched all the cutscenes and played it on liquid normal (first mgs game..didnt want it to be to hard) right now I'm on my second playthrough on "the boss extreme" it's really hard and I die A LOT but i'm almost finished and I think that by the time I finish it it will probably be 2 hours less then my first plathrough (I kept watching all the cutscenes..) also tip for laughing octopus for your next playthrough- use night vision..it helps seeing her
first run took me nearly 20 hrs, second time on higher difficulty took me 24 hours (took it more easy and less run & shoot in certain areas)... i watched all cut-scenes both runs... they are so good :)
It takes 20 something hours with all the cinematic scenes and whatever else. The actual playing that you do only takes about 5 to 7 hours or so. This game is for fans who have played all the rest of them. That isn't to say you won't like the game, but you won't enjoy it as much as other people.
It can actually take quite a bit if you explore around. The brazil stage has alot of different paths you can take that will bring you to other areas. Just keep in mind if you're trying to collect weapons for cash the best ways are to disarm someone or hold them up. I think most other methods will give you a fraction multiplier which will decrease the actual dp you get.
Took me 24 hours. I explored the maps a bit and I stayed to help the rebels in the fights and got caught up in the killing. Those rebels cheering after victory was intoxicating.

so far 1 is the best one in my opnion...i am currently working on part 3 snake eater...i bought it when it first cameout but it took me a long while before i got into it...1 and 2 are better then 3 so far...i bought part 4 when it first cameout but haven't really played it enough to know how it is....i wanna finish part 3 first...i do know this...part 4 has alot of returning characters from the 1st metalgear which i think is super cool
Depends how good you are and what is your first priority when playing it for the first time.
Other than the storyline, my main focus was on the revamped gameplay. I wanted to explore the gameplay on my first playthrough which was about 24 hours and some minutes.
