This may or may not have influenced the Crying Wolf member of B and B. The project was major in 2005. These videos were released days ago.

Regardless of if it was a rip off or not watch the video...very impressive and somewhat scary that technology is getting this good.

Totally autonomous.

Thats quite old, I remember seeing that awhile ago and I was creeped out by it and still am. Probably not on this forum but I remember seeing it and its still cool. That thing reminds me more of the Gekkos than it does of Crying Wolf. (The buzzing reminds me of the moos from the Gekkos) All they need now is bio mechanical legs.

What the hell, that is so freaky :? Especially when the guy kicked it and it recovered like a real 4 legged animal would.

That's cool man .. it looks as though two people are strapped to eachother trying to walk around, because both knees are bent in.

That must have taken a lot of work ..

More like the researchers got the idea from the genius, Hideo Kojima. Yeah, both the scientists and Kojima are brillant.

That is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. Thank you, TC, for bringing this to my attention. I'm not sure how familiar people here are with robotics/artificial intelligence, but the amount of time and money that must have gone into this project is probably staggering. The way the machine reacts and corrects itself to being kicked and slipping on the ice is mind-blowing. A major accomplishment.

I guess they are irrational people who associate everything they see with what they have seen in movies and other entertainment.

Thats amazing. The way it moves and reacts when it's kicked and on ice is so realistic.

And it does all that with a 350lb payload. I wouldn't think those legs would be that strong.

Looks like the MGS games weren't too far off from reality like people thought they were, but ASIMO already proved that.

Nah, more like the scientists ripped that idea from Kojima, Kojima created it ages ago. But of course in a game form, not in real life form. :P

And yes, the scientists are really smart to make this happen. But becareful though. :D

How could you call it a 'rip off'? It's not like the game developers have created an actual physical copy of this thing. MAYBE the form factor of the robot inspired the mgs character, but to say 'ripped off' is a total misjudgement.

BTW, we're pertty much wasing our own time ty. ^_^ That aside it really is creepy how games parallel current events or events that are not too far off in the future. Perfect example: Tom Clancy's upcoming "Endwar". Take a look at the plot and compare that to current events. Friggin' creppy as hell !!!
