MGS4 South America questions

alright I've played through the game multiple times but I wanted to know if you can actually lead the rebel PMC to victory at the mansion in south America, or if they'll just keep fighting.

I also want to knowif there's a way to get past the lastgekko in the market place w/o running up to it, then running away, letting it swing its leg and then you run past? cus to me it seems like a flaw in the game if that is is the only way to get past it.

For me, the mansion battle seemed to go on forever, but, I'm unsure whether you can actually help them win while you're there.

For the gekkos, I just tranq them in the legs so they fall over, then I run past them. I tend to have bad luck dodging from the leg sweep move, lol.

yes the battle does eventually end but i forget how long it exactly takes
