MGS4 won PLAYSTATION Game of The Year!

Congratulations Mr.Kojima!

Metal Gear Solid 4 has been voted Game of the Year in the PlayStation GoTY - Sponsored by Official PlayStation Magazine HD category at the Golden Joystick Awards.

We were about to type, "and who could suggest any other winner?" But a glance at the two runner-ups proves just how tight the PlayStation category was; both Call of Duty 4 and the mammoth Grand Theft Auto IV missed out, but it was a very close call indeed.

As for MGS4, we're glad it's finally got a gong to show for its - we think - under-praised arrival earlier this year.

It really deserves THE GOTY, not just PlayStation GOTY.

To be honest, I want a new cast and story anyways. Kojima literally squashed Snake and any possible chance he could ever come back. Solid Snake and his story is great and it'll never die (for me anyways), but it's time to move on to new things in Metal Gear.

i doubt that.I played it at my friends house.Although its a GREAT game,but nothing far from the first one ! Both me and him are predicting that Resistance 2 alone will cross it on IGN atleast.

So far this year i see no game beating MGS4 for GOTY on PS3, and IMO it could easily be GOTY on everything.

Gears of war is easily the main contender IMO, gears 1 was awesome and 2 looks like it has improved on everything.

I just finished fable 2 and it was a really good game but i agree with the 8.5 GS give it so its not a contender IMO.

I have just started fallout 3 im confident that will be a nominee.

Dead Space should be a nominee IMO, sleeper hit of the year and EA putting out quality title after quality title, crysis,dead space,red alert and soon mirrors edge.

I have not played Resistence 2 so i really cannot comment but after watching the 1up show it will probably just miss out on a nominee like fable 2.

Little Big Planet is a title i forgot about, early i said its between gears 2 and MGS4 but that was wrong LBP will probably win most GOTY awards IMO as it's new and fresh and the game world has seen little like it(garrys mod) in a full retail game, i played the beta and enjoyed it somewhat, im not too creative but i will be picking it up and trying to make some cool stuff, if i had to bet i would say LBP GOTY.

Prince of Persia could be an amazing game from what i have seen, its art design is beautiful and the flowing platforming looks so much fun, i hope this game delivers.

GTA4 was a decent game but IMO its not in the same league as gears 2,mgs4 and LBP, infact i enjoyed fable 2 and dead space allot more than gta4, i would have give it an 8.5 and its was very good just not a 10.

Another great year to be a gamer, so many great games to play, well if your a fangirl you only get a slice of the great games because of their pathetic loyalty to a console maker.

sigh how can a MOVIE when GAME of the year award. Over 75% of metal gear was nothing but boring cutscenes you were just waiting to be over with. Grand Thef Auto IV deserved game of the year

I agree with you ! But believe me after playing Gears of War 2,i dont think its a GOTY material.Sure its AAA,but GOTY requires FAR more than just AAA.It requires something like Metal Gear Solid 4.And i think it deserves this years GOTY.Resistance 2 alone will be Gears 2 competitor.
