ouch.. thats pretty bad... you'd be lucky to even connect to a game online let alone play one.. your latency is ridiculous.. if you're gonna play online you'll need at the very least a 1mb Down 256k up if you want to not be lagging like crazy..

as long as you have a DSL/Broadband connection or better (high speed works too) you can get online, although by the sound of your download speed you will probably have a lot of lag (my download speed is 175kbps-200kbps and I still get lag sometimes).

You could buy a long ethernet cord or buy a wireless router. To tell you the truth. The best internet for your buck that I have seen is AT&T DSL. You pay 20 bucks for pretty fast DSL. You pay just $5 bucks more so 25$ a month for double the speed. I download almost 2 MB a second which isn't bad and never have lag. Try it out. Call AT&T.

I know a couple people in India on KZ2 ... one of them is ranked immensely High. So if .77 is true, you should be okay. Mine: wish it was better ... actually no, I'm okay with the speed I wish Rogers wasn't a giant douche with bandwidth ("we're limiting bandwidth to 60GB a month to improve your experience")

Upload speed is what you're really looking for for online gaming. I think I'm going to upgrade my internet package so I can host more on Warhawk.

Ha, I'm fine with the DL speed, but I really need an upload speed boost. Right now I can only host 24 and I'd like to host 32 player clan servers. Unfortunately the next package they offer is 50down 10up which is kind of overkill and it's expensive.

that ping is nasty, anything over 200-300 is a horrible lag feast, speed if fine. ping is mostly determined by where the server is so it might not matter.

At least 1 mb/s if you want no lag

thelastguy

not true.

It has more to do with ping times then download speeds. if you have a slower dl speed and a low ping you'll play games fine. a minimun of 1 mb/s is usually recommended. but the number you really need to know is ping. try to find a server 50 miles away.

my ping is 43 ms on a server 50 miles away and i get almost no lag. if i play games only in my region i get 0 lag. except for things like bullet lag. that kinda stuff is impossable to avoid though. I also host a lot of matches on KZ2 and never have any complaints of people lagging when im the hsot.

as for running your internet fr away. you could either use a wireless connection or buy a really long ethernet cable. if your access point is being blocked my a lot of walls and such you may find some drops or slow connection speeds. i usually try to avoid wireless connections if at all possable.

Did a quick speed test using my notebook placed half-a-floor away from the wireless router :

While my notebook connects to my WiFi router very efficiently (for Toronto, Canada), my PS3 cannot connect to it wirelessly without some severe latency issues.

I had to resort to acquiring a very long ethernet cable extending at over 30 feet in length to connect my PS3 directly to the router.

However, because of this, I rarely ever get lag, receiving full network speed from both my router and from my networked PCs.

LittleStreakier's sig reminds me of the Interactive art available on the PSN : Linger in Shadows. It appears to be the Main Menu screen... I have no idea actually, I don't have the "game" nor have I seen it in action, but it definitely reminds me of it.

How bout mine?

I've been playing COD4 online and i've had no problems so far. SF4 is lagging like hell, though
