After I create a profile, I hit the start button and the whole game freezes? I have to shut the PS3 completely down and I know it's not my PS3 because I just got done playing COD4. Anyone else having this problem?

Worked fine for me. I would think something as simple as creating a profile freezing the game would not be something Sony would be likely to ship the game with, seeing as how it's pretty much the first thing you do. Although, I can't say if you just have a bad copy of the game or if it's your machine.

If it's not the disc, I'm not sure exactly what it would be in the ps3 itself, possibly the hard drive since creating a profile does write to it, although that would be easy to check, especially since when you first start the game it takes up 2gb. Another thing you could try is deleting the 2gb on your ps3 and try reinstalling the game, because if it's anything like a lot of PC games, there is a small chance errors of some nature occured and could throw the rest of the game out of whack till reinstalled.

Try disconnecting your PS3 from the internet while you get the game going because many people were having server issues tonight. If that doesn't work, try deleting the save files or anything mlb 08 related on your ps3 and redo it.

Thanks guys! I had previously deleted all MLB '08 material from my hard drive including the demo and that still didn't do the trick, but I didn't realize I still had some old MLB '07 info on there in the game utility tab I tried to erase it but again my PS3 froze! It turns out that data from MLB '07 was corrupted! I restarted the PS3 and was finally able to delete that '07 info and just to make sure I disconnected and reconnected to the internet and the game started up fine! Thanks again guys!

That sounds like a episode of twilight zone lol. Kinda weird. It will play on every PS3 in the world ,except the one you buy, even if you buy 50 of them lol. Sorry joke:P But you have to admit that is weird.

It is probably your router. Disconnect the PS3 from the network and try again.

It probably is the router because when I disconnect it I can play offline just fine but whenever I connect it I can't get past the main screen, which is perfectly fine beause I'm mainly gonna play Road to the Show anyway and had no real plans of playing online but this is gonna suck whenever there is a roster update threw the network. I've tried disconnecting it and reconnecting but it just won't work when the ethernet cable is plugged in???

Dude I get what your problem is. I'm sorry to say you could have

saved yourself some trouble in returning the game and the system.

I had the same problem. The problem is the internet, as long as your PS3 is

hooked up to the interent, MLB 08 The Show won't load the title screen. I have

no idea why. So just disable your internet under Network Settings and the game will

work. Iv'e heard that since the game is so new. The MLB server is overloaded with

online players and it causes a malfunction in the game starting up with an internet

connection.

From reading all sorts of stuff online i figured it had something to do with the router. I disabled the internet threw the network settings on the ps3 and it loads up fine. I dont know why but i felt like trying that to see if that was the problem and it was. Now i wish i would have found that out before i returned the system, but thankfully i was able to get a brand new system and 150$ back thanks to the replacement plan i bought from best buy. So now i got a brand new ps3 and a brand new game, even tho neither was needed in the first place.

For that other guy who was having the same problem, you dont need to unplug the ethernet wire everytime you want to play the show, just turn on your system, and go to network settings and disable the internet. You wont have to keep unplugging and plugging the wire in by doing that.

Thankfully i didnt plan on playing this game online, but i just wanted to play it in general, and now i know how to do that.

Cool! I'll do that from now on. The only thing that's gonna suck is when we need to download roster updates, then what are we gonna do? Oh well, I'll be playing Road to the Show 'til the next one comes out anyway, not to mention a whole of COD mixed in there lol

I also have a problem with MLB 08: The Show. When it gets to the press start screen it freezes right when I press start. I went to the store and got a new one and it still didn't work. I disconnected PSN and it still didn't work! I called the store up and told them my problem. They said there is something wrong with the drive and it isn't reading disks correct, but all my other games work!!!!! If anyone knows how to fix this solution please tell me.

My PSN name is call7832

I'm actually wanting to play online. I'm having the same problems as everyone else.

I'm connected to my wireless internet. But when I put the game in, it won't load up. I'm able to play Madden 08 and Grand Theft Auto IV online, but The Show just won't work.

Also.... one of my other Sony games wont work either

Any suggestions?????

Has anybody figured out a way to get roster updates, because of this problem? I'm having the same issue, it works fine while disconnected from the internet, but i really would like to get the roster updates. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I haven't read through all of the replies so my answer may not be even needed, but I experienced the exact same problem and yes, if you disable the Network on your PS3 it will work. Now like everyone else I bought this game to play online and receive my updates so with research I was able to figure out the problem. For everyone that is using a router, then 9 times out of 10 the router is placing it's address (192.168.X.X) as the primary DNS. MLB will not see past that local DNS being the primary, so you must put in your ISP's DNS as the Primary and use your Routers as the Secondary DNS. I took mine back too and I'm pissed because I couldn't play it for 2 days myself.

So go to Network and use the custom feature in setting it up and put in your ISP's DNS address as primary, your routers as secondary and everything should fine. I'm online and everything. Now to get your ISP's DNS, login to your router or just go to command prompt/DOS screen and type: ipconfig /all. You see it under the DNS Servers entries, directly beneath your routers DNS address.

My Call Sign is: Jahcoque so add me as a friend on PS3

Hope this helps everyone.

I think you should listen to this guy. I have MLB 08 and never had any of these issues. I have Dlink (dont remember model off hand, black, wireless N w/4 ports). Has anyone tried to go directly to modem to see if that works?
