Besides a learning curve and and the Move support not being amazing I can't seem to figure out why it got a 7.5

I mean this isn't gonna ruin my day or anything but I would understand if the review mentioned that it was too similar to last years version or nothing new was brought to the table but they barely touched on the modes offered in this game.

Needless to say I do not understand where the 2 and a half points went.

You guys haven't played it. Reviews don't start out at 10s. "fail review is fail" - The review's point of view is no more valid than yours. Unless it is poorly worded or factually incorrect, it should be fine. You are more than welcome to disagree though.

You can say its a fail review. Looking at the Madden series that has not changed in years still gets 8.5 and up. Looking at MLB 2012 they mark down because of learning curve its a fail review

Gamespot reviewers seem to put more weight in their score points than IGN (for example). I actually like it.
7.5 here is kind of like an 8-8.5 from IGN.

the gamespot standard is and always has been review a game based on comparison with the type of game and how it stands against other similar games on its platform or similar platforms. What other baseball game is better than the show? It is the best baseball game around, it is tops, so it deserves top scores. from what i saw in the video review, the reviewer kept showing how the commentators voice was out of sync with what actually was going on. he even begins the video with this, and includes it a couple more time, and it seems like thats his main problem from turning this AAA title into an A title. I admit this issue has been around since ive played MLB 09 and its annoying, but it only happens like once in a while, and its not that far off. its not a big issue at all in fact, especially when the game is more immersive when you turn the chatter off.

7 to 7.5 means it's a good game with no major problems and if you like the genre, it's worth purchase, I don't see the problem.

I would just like to win a game, ever. I used to be able to win games playing the World Series Baseball, Triple Play, All Star Baseball, etc. series...

Don't think I've ever managed to win a game of The Show.

Maybe I've just become awful at baseball video games.

I love the show but what has really changed? I mean the online is still the worst of all sports games.

I know the feeling. I've been playing Binary Domain lately and I have to say, great game. I would've given it at least a 9. What did GameSpot give it? A 7.5. Why? Good question. I watched the video review and it sure seemed like the reviewer had a great time playing it. Sort of seems like the reason why it got a poor review is due to poor online play. Idk, that sort of tears me on game reviews. If you give a game that is moreso focused on story and campaign mode rather than multiplayer and have it effect the review. It's like saying the Cardinals are a bad baseball team because they didn't win the NL Central Division even though they won the World Series. Who really cares? They won the f'n World Series!

I guess my point is, if GameSpot is going to review a game, they should focus more on the main points that matter than the tiny details that really have little effect on the game as a whole.

The Show is being compared to previous iterations, not other sports games like Madden. It didn't improve enough and started to become a bit stale in the reviewer's opinion. Key word there, did you catch it? Opinion. Fail logic is fail.

Gamespot penalizes series (like Madden) that don't improve over time. Perhaps the score is a reflection that MLB 12 is not a significant advance over 11?
