They have two completely different audiences that to compare them is ridiculous in my opinion. They are certainly not going to compete against each other. One is a racing sim, the other is an arcade racer in the genre of "play, create, share" that LBP created.

Why?

Because 8 year olds can tell the difference between turbo and NA now?

I also think that you can't comprare them. MNR is just a mix of Mario Kart and LBP and since I like both, I'll sure get it. I won't get GT5 though since I'm not into those ordinairy SIM (I can get somewhat into games where you can tune your car as it has somehow rpg elements in it xD)

I will, to be honest I haven't thought about buying any of them but MNR just looks much more fun. I get really bored really quickly of GT games don't know why. There just not for me and to be honest Im just a little bored of racing games in general. My most recent favourite racing game would have to be Grid of DiRT 2.

I don't even think they are supposed to be rivals are they? Seems like ModNation Racers is LBP with cars. At least that's the impression I get from it. GT5 is an actual sim-racer.

Some of you people can really be useless at times. Obviously the two are very different but they are still racing games. I think what this game has to do to win over any potential GT5 buyers is develop a strong community thing. But pretty much any GT5 guy is going to buy GT5 and a lot of MNR buyers are going to buy GT5.

I don't really see a point for discussion here. GT5 guys are of course going to buy GT5, or they wouldn't be GT5 guys. Also the argument that a lot of MNR buyers will buy GT5 too can easily be turned around. There's room in the market for both. No need to create a competition that, to be frank, just isn't there.

Wow. Most retarded topic ever. A fun, crazy game aimed at a much younger audience, with bright visuals an a cartoony style compared with what's going to be one of the most realistic car sims ever, aimed at a much higher audience. You can't compare the two, because they aren't trying to be the same thing.

i think the TC needs to change his topic to "what would MNR have to do to prevent people from buying GT5"

No, I think the TC should not have made this thread in the first place. These games are aimed at completely different audiences. You can't compare apples and oranges. The fact that they're both racing games does not validate a comparison/discussion.

Well...I think that MNR is going to be bigger than GT5 just by the aspect of the "Play, Create, Share" by the simple fact that the overall audience strongly prefers to have some creativity into the game. Look at LBP not only lil kids play it but so do older audiences! If LBP was huge and MKWii was huge imagine if the both got combined...I'm not hating on GT5 but it's the truth whats the point in playing a game that is just drive a cool real car while you can have a colorfulcand creative racing game that the overall audience can enjoy ^_^

Besides the fact that you race, they are too completely different games. And in my opinion, Mod Nation Racers looks better (I'm talking about gameplay, although MNR does have a neat graphical design in my opinion.)

I highly doubt that these two titles are competing for the same customers. I'm getting both, but I barely consider them to be in the same genre. MNR is a game I will enjoying creating tracks for, and playing with my wife. GT5 is the game I'll be whipping out my G25 cockpit for and passing mofo's online.

I dont think these two games would directly compete, they're both exclusives and tend to a different audience each. MNR looks really good, it is a day one purchase, as for GT i may rent it, I'm not too much of a sim racer, just wanna have fun. I will go out and say in terms of sales MNR has a good chance of beating out GT's fanbase.

Honestly, I'll probably get both. I love GT, and i also love the idea of LBP+Mario Kart.
