The monitors native resolution is 1440 x 900 meaning that 720p wont be  problem, it will probably upscale to 1080i. You wont get 1080p though. But at that price you cant complain. No HDMI input, but you can alway use a HDMI to DVI adapter. The big problem is that it makes no mention of HDCP. I looked into this option a while back and discovered that a computer monitor requires HDCP in order for a PS3 to be connected. That and Windows VISTA will be making use of HDCP technology as well.  I was looking at (Still Am) the 22inch ASUS MW221U. Check is out. Its fully HDCP compliant and has some very nice specs without being too pricey. It also has a higher resolution 1680 x 1050 (Pity its not quite 1080).

It doesn't list HDTV as supported so it probably wouldn't work with your PS3. Just because a monitor can show as many pixels as HDTV doesn't mean it is HDTV compatibile. The fact that it doesn't have a Component-in tells me this is a PC-only display, though obviously because the 360 supports VGA as an output standard it would work with that. No, I don't think this is a solution for you.

trust me... at that screen size, you dont need 1080p. Also HDCP is only used to display 1080p signals.1080i and lower wont matter so your pretty much ready to go.

I understand how your television sets require HDCP for 1080p only. However if you do some forum searching like I did you will find that people using a HDMI to DVI adapter cannot get any picture of any sort on their monitor without HDCP compliance. Or you could spend the money on a component box or something. But to do it natively it requires HDCP. Don't ask me why, I'm just the messenger.

You guys keep looking at PC monitors, which in regard to the PS3, is a mistake. First, these are 16:10 aspect ratio instead of 16:9. None of them support HDTV standards. It may be possible to pull off a HDMI-DVI switch, but even that isn't guaranteed unless the display explicitly supports HDTV. And none of them will look good since they use non-standard resolutions that will use the cheap internal scaler to match the destination resolution.

If you're dead set on a small monitor just be sure to search the television section, rather than the monitor section, and you'll find Component and VGA solutions that could work.

A monitor by its very nature is HDTV. 1050 is a high resolution any way you look at it. Yes there is a difference in ratio, as such you will either get image stretching or black bars top and bottom.  I didn't say it would be pretty but the TC asked a question and wanted help. But for some people a large television might not be an option.
