Monster Hunter Freedom 1 help

I'm considering getting the game mentioned above. The critics rate it from 6.5-7.5 but the regular people give it really high ratings. If you played it, tell me if it's good or not and if you can why.

Only reason i'm buying games for the PSP is because I need something to play on my hour long subway trips.

1? Why not 2?
Well, MHF 1 and 2 are both great.
It could really kill your time.
Hunting predators or some things like that, carving off their parts for equip upgrades.
Many choices of weapons and armors.
It's a li'l bit hard for a beginner. I had hard time too back then. You'll just get used to it eventually.

But yeah, It's an extreme time killer... maybe it kills too much time, to be honest.

Get Monster Hunter Freedom 2 instead. With the addition of Pokke Farm in MHF2 , you'll be thankful to be able to gather materials faster.
