It just occured to me...

Does those developers or distributors make less money on PS3 games? since Blue-ray disksare more expensive.

I was guessing that is probly one reason why those game developers seem to be lazy on improve game qualities on ports.

im almost positive it does but not by much, remember the retail price of something that is 20 bucks is often 5 dollars more then what it is really worth to produce, i beleave the current retail price of a single blu ray disc is 25 dollars please someone if i am wrong correct me and game companies get there format discs directly from the factory so where we would buy one blu ray disc at best buy for $25 they get one for $10 so it doesnt really cost them to much extra of anything.

again please if someone else can explain it better then i can or if i maybe gave some fals information please correct me

Blu-Ray discs are going up in production and are costing less. Eventually, they'll come down to the same retail price as DVDs. Also, the discs are bought in mass quantities by the producers, which means lower price per disc. The disc price is a very insignificant production cost.

Reminds me of when Xbots were telling everyone before the PS3 launched that games were going to cost $100-200 because of Blu-ray. I love these old rumors they are so fun to look back on now. Another classic "1080p is impossible"

20 cents a disk, thats how much publishers pay to press Bluray disks. Do you think they care. Plus Bl;uRay games cannot be duplicated thus Devs don't have to worry about pirated PS3 games. You know how much devs lose on Wii and Xbox 360 piracy. For 20 cents they get zero piracy and bigger storage.

remember this: 60 gigabytes is way to much for a game console. and. developers dont need 50GIGS its unessicary.

The Blue-Ray disc may be less than 1% of the cost of developing a game the most money spent (possibly 30%)is on the man hours developing and engineeringthe game to the PS3 or having to completely re-engineer it from another game platform. Even after everything they may be making about $1.00 per game profit. Now add distribution cost, warehousing cost, advertising cost. Now consider the vendors have to make at least a 60% profit over there cost for over head andshop liftingto be able to stay in business.

The price difference to press them is probably pennies for a dvd and 20 or 30 cents for a bluray disc. IOW its not a big enough difference that companies would care as long as the game sells. I mean the most expensive games to produce are DS games since they are on flash memory. But I dont see companies complaining about it.

Yes it costs more for blu-ray disks, but the increase is negligible.

I remember those. However, $100-200 for a game, thatwas a ridiculous rumour lol... The good old days.
