More sony could learn from apple. Price cut credit to early buyers of iphone!

Apple decided to cut the price of the iphone from 599.00 to 399.00 just 8 weeks after its release. Apples chief exec steve jobs was swamped with e-mails from angry customers (i was exetremly angry than i shoveled out 600 and got slaped in the face with a price cut a month later) so they are offering 100.00 store credit to people who purchased the phone early. i remember the safe reaction when the ps3 recieved its price cut but sony did no such credit. im not mad at sony at all and i know they were selling the ps3 for less than its manufactured so they were loosing out in the begaining. but this is proof that it can be done.

Its a store credit...and only a $100? I guess thats better than nothing but its still selling Apple Products, its not like they are writing out $100 checks to anyone.

If Sony would have had to reduce the ps3's price within the first 8 weeks , I am sure they would have given something back to the early adopters. The ps3 drop came 8 months later and that is typical for electronics.

yeah but the apple store has a lot i would like to buy, for example 100 toward one of those new kick arse ipods, itv, or hell its not much towards it but an ibook. if sony gave 100 store credit, even psn credit that would have been sweet. even 50 or 20. that would cover a couple psn games.

Nike_Air is right, the PS3 has already been out almost a year now and the price drop is a given, any products will eventually have its price reduced.

But the IPHONE? slashing a HUGE $200 after only 8 weeks? now that's just retarded. There's a conspiracy here!!! Maybe they want our Congress to switch to AT&T with the lower price LOL.

600 blu-ray,music,dvd,ps 3 games, internet access, ect = bargen.

When something brand new and with flashy lights and beeping sounds comes out there are going to be a ton of people who will pay top dollar for it just so they can have it to show off. I did it with the PS3 in November. The iphone sold out everywhere and sold for twice as much the first week on ebay because of this. No one cares that its a crappy phone, its new and cool.

So why should a company give money back and say that they were sorry for an overcharge. They didnt force the price on anyone. I wanted the iphone when it came out but I wasnt about to pay $500+ for a phone. I knew I would just pick one up after seeing reviews, useing a friends a few times, and waiting for a price drop.

How much more humble should Sony be? I know, they should let us play online for free. They should give us free demos to play. They should provide us with a better system, you know, one that dosnt have a 30% fail rate.

I am fine with the price I paid for my PS3 at launch. I bought something brand new and flashy that I knew would get a price drop someday and I can live with that. So thanks Sony, I like my reliable system with free online play and lots of demos. Glad you made a buck off me from my PS3, TV, Remote control (that I think can fly the space shuttle), and alarm clock.

i like my ps3 and i like my iphone that is a kick arse mp3 player complete web browser and i dont know if you have ever used an i phone but the phone quality is not that bad and everyone like to talk crap about the edge network but anytime i use it its very fast considering im in MISSISSIPPI! and on top of all that i get 100 dollers back. thats pretty sweet.

The PS3 was a bargin when I picked it up shortly before the price drop and I still feel like it was a bargain.

But the same price for a phone is crazy I have a Motorola that has been working great for about 3 or 4 years now that cost about $20.00 with service contract. A friend just got an Erricson for the same price with a contract. And both of these phones do about anything needed for a phone including taking pictures. Both of these phones also work better than most phones in my area.

Your reviews are off. You can honestly say that you have no problems when using this productskey feature (THE PHONE). And you have no problems seeing it in any kind of light. You also must hive frail little fingers that have no issues working the touch screen. Every time I went to hit a button I hit 3 or 4.

my finger are normal, reviews said people with fat fingers might have a problem.. and i have no problem seeing in any kind of light because the phones back light brightens and dims to adjust to the room/outdoor light so im pretty sure you dont know what your talking about or else you would know about that feature. again the only time i miss keys is when im sending a text message but the phone's txt application was designed to predict what your saying if you miss a key. and it work perfect. it has to do with the location of the letter and the possible words that could be spelled with the letter you pressed in context to other words you have typed. the phone learns what you type and how. and you cant hit 3 buttons at one time... lies

This thread is horrible, I don't know why people feel the need to keep comparing this phone to the PS3...and if you're fine with Sony not giving out the rebate then why even post...just drop this thing...price drops happen, sometimes even after 8 weeks, personally I'm shocked that Apple is doing this, they certainly don't have to and Sony doesn't owe you anything either.
