Warning, spoilers ahead. Also, place spoiler tags or warn people that a spoiler is coming up for a game BEFORE you give the spoiler out. That includes saying what game you're about to spoil first. And of course, try and keep it in the PS3 realm if you can.

I call Enix's Drakengard (original)!

I found Deadspace pretty depressing. I just felt so alone the whole game. It made me feel empty. The fact that the main character was a lifeless void didn't help either. What's even more depressing is that that game wasn't even all that good.

Fallout 3.. hands down the most depressing game i've ever played.. everything is just dark and grey/greygreen for almost the entire game... I couldn't play it for more than a few hours at a time and even then i was pretty bummed by the end of it..

Oh, I agree. Its another case of feeling alone in an empty, dreary looking world. Not even Fawkes offered the companionship i desired. :(

Metal gear 4 i mean i just felt so bad for snake coughing and dying from an illness through out the game. It just made me remember the old snake when he was young and cool it just made me hang my head low. Not to mention that music that plays at the start screen when hes standing over the gravestone doesn't help

Yeah.. It was a huge step down from Oblivion imo.. depressing environment, enemies, towns folk, and music.. i get they were trying to make it a wasteland but it was just so dark and despairing..

If you havent played xenogears you probably wont be doing it so I am not going to bother posting a spoiler alert. Its a ps1 game which is pretty hard to find short of ebay anymore. "dont download a rom youll never get past one of the bosses lol he frezes the game with one of his moves so unless you 2 turn him youll just be doing the boss forever :P)

Anyways...

Xenogears.

Finding out that Fey and Elyham have gone multiple life times over and over again with her dying and him never being able to do anything but watch her die in some horrific kind of way. Totally messed up. Buuuut... He never had id in any of his previous lives :P

Shadow of the Colossus...in a good way. The feeling of "Why the hell am I killing these magnificent beings?" is kinda disturbing.

Assassin's Creed 2. I felt really bad when his little brother died. But I thought the end was really depressing, Ezio spent his entire life (Which is made obvios by the dates and physical changes in Ezio)for just about nothing, next to no resolution, very little statisfaction from defeating his mortal enemy and nothing but unaswered questions from the Vault.

Also killing Astrea in Demon's souls was sad, the dialog mixed with the music was sad. "You killed him didn't you?" :(

MGS 4.... Starts off sad, every act ends sad, the part near the ending (spoilers Crawling through with the MW radiation.... ).

The game is depressing throughout.

The most depressing game?

Any game from the Fallout series I guess... but the third installment in the series is specially depressing.
1. You start the game seeing the death of your mother. --- 2. You are picked on by other kids. --- 3. Your father abandon you. --- 4. The world is utterly destroyed and messed up. (Everything is either broken/rotten or radiated). --- 5. Most human beings you find are Raiders, which attack you on sight. --- 6. Even in the largest human setlings you won't find more than 20 people around. --- 7. Many sidequests are sad. ("Oasis" - A mutated human wants your help to die. "Those" - The father and friends of the lone survivor - a boy - were killed by a mad scientist's researchs.)
Fallout 3 was so empty, and i was depressed walking around only to get killed, and have to walk back to the same location. So Fallout 3 was depressing, and frustrating.

Drakengard 1 Spoilers!

~~~Your very first level, you take a fatal blow to your back, meet a dying dragon and make a pact with her to live. From there, your best friend kidnaps your sister and hands said sister over to a demonic girl, you kill literally thousands of soldiers trying to find and rescue your sister, you find her - with a knife in her chest next to the demonic girl and the sky goes red on you for the final battle JUST before your dragon sacrifices her soul to save you....suffering for eternity.
But wait, there's more!
On second playthrough, you take an alternative path to get to your sister on time. Alternative happy ending? Not quite! That demonic girl is there too and she decides to tell you what's on your sister's mind and it can't be good, so you show a bit of emotional hurt and your sister decides to take a knife and decides to stab herself in the chest!
But wait, there's more!
Your best friend sees the dead sister and decides to try and revive her through unnatural means, but ends up transforming the dead woman into a creepy deformed angel and kills your friend. You must then yourself take your sister out and re-kill her for the 2nd ending's final battle. So at the end of that little fight, you see the main character holding his bloody dead sister with broken wings.
But wait, there's freaking more!
Apparently on fourth playthrough, there's a route to corner the first final boss (There's literally 4 alternative ones). One of your party members is the demonic girl's brother, and he ends up having to kill her when he noticed she was batsane. The sky turns red and all the sudden building-sized babies come from the sky and goes on a human eating spree. (And sucks to be you if you have a problem with attacking babies of any sort, like I did.) I don't need to tell anyone that pretty much....no one really lived through this ending at all. Enix needs to do this far more often in terms of plot-twist.
for me, silent hill shattered memories, every single ending is sad, (spoiler ahead) and the fact that Cheryl had to create a picture of an imaginary Harry mason, not accepting that he's just dead.
I'm also finding Dante's Inferno to be a might on the depressing side, for obvious reasons...the moaning, tortured sound effects alone were enough to get one of my lady friends to leave while I was playing it...
Bioshock 2 if you get an unexpected ending. The evil-good ending especially if that wasnt what you were gunning for. Oh and the last mission where if you harvested EVEN one Little Sister you have to harvest all the little sisters with eleanor. Very Unexpected. Nuff said.
