Either that, or burn a disc from your computer and transferring it to your PS3.

Short end of this plan is it depends on how big your music collection is. Might take a while.

i just use my ipod. little known secret i think.

connect it to your ps3 with your ipod usb cable, go to options on your device in music, then find the folder called music (i think mine was within a foler called itunes or something), then a bunch of folders labeled F01, 02, etc. will pop up. you can copy them all and delete what you dont want, or copy songs individually.

and i would bet this works with a zune or whatever mp3 device you may (hopefully) have.

Install Windows Media Player 11. Enable media sharing under the Library tab. You then stream or copy music from your PC over the network.

Doesn't work well if you have any firewalls really.

I would just get any of the memory sticks that fit in the PS3.

So a memory stick would be the easiest.

Sure it works with firewalls if you know anything about networking. I have media sharing working perfectly fine from 3 different Vista machines. Hell I even have it working from 1 of my Macs too. Firewalls are about external protection they shouldn't do anything for machines within your network. PEBKAC!

get winamp remote. trust me.

winamp.com

it lets you play all your music on your computer , all your movies, and has youtube's top videos in the xmb.

and it doesnt take up any space on your ps3. no firewall problems as with media player because its freeware instead of microsoft, its also more compatible because of this than windows media player. i promise

if you really want it on their then get a flash drive or memory stick. ps3 is a media hub you can use ANYTHING

A quick question since we are on the subject about the music.

When you do put the songs on your PS3, can you listen to them while your playing games?

Wow, that makes absolutely no sense at all. A DLNA media streaming server is a DLNA media streaming server. They all use exactly the same network ports. People having issues with networking is due to their level of knowledge of computers and networking, not that application itself; or they may just have crappy hardware that doesn't support modern networking systems like UPnP properly.

Short answer: No Long answer: Some (but not many) games allow you to have custom sound tracks. This is not the norm.

Thanks CellAnimation

I think all the games should have the custom sound track option. Oh well maybe one day.
