little big planet- an awesome platformer wit the ability to create ur own level. it also has a great online community

resistance 2- fantastic camapign, co-op mode, and mulitplayer.

MGS4, R1 and 2, etc all those

Assassin's Creed have wonderful environment, good gameplay and 3 big city will make u enjoy walk on it.

Call Of Duty 4 my best online game.

That's just must have exclusives though. Dead Space is a must have, as is Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Oblivion and the Orange Box, among others

Agreed 100%. It's certainly the best RPG on the PS3 in my opinion and just a great game in general. It's already one of my favorite games, and I've only had it for about a week.

I think the new tomb raider is essential, it has so many great levels etc. It completes a perfect ps3 collection.

MGS4 : Guns of the Patriots

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Devil May Cry 4

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

Little Big Planet

I have the following but don't think they are essential:

Motorstorm (very good but very hard and needs more levels)

Resistance Fall of Man (feels outdated and generic now - theres better stuff out there)

Grand Theft Auto 4 (not as much fun stuff to do as GTA San Andreas)

Tekken 5 DR online (very good but its really an updated PS2 game and online is laggy)

Wipeout HD (also good but I find it difficult and theres lots of time trials which I find boring, online is troublesome)

Warhawk (this really depends on you, I don't have the expansion packs, so this might influence my opinion.)

Super Stardust HD (great if you like arcade shooters and aiming to get high scores, but gets boring imo)

Skate. (better off waiting for the sequel... this came out when EA didn't know how to program or port to PS3 properly)

I want to know what the best FPS or shooter is on PS3, as I plan to buy one soon. Dead Space, Far Cry 2 and Resistance 2 are my main candidates so far. I think COD4 is too old now and still goes for £40 (why?), so am thinking away from that game.any suggestions?

Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid 4.

All this talk about Valkyria Chronicles is making me want it more and more. I don't have the cash right now though. :(

I see a lot of mentions for Motorstorm: PR.  Why?  I thought a lot of people hated the first Motorstorm.  I would have thought that they wouldn't have even considered getting Pacific Rift.  Is it really that good?

Yeah these are the top games to get for the PS3.

If you like racing I would also sugest Motor Storm PR and there are a number of RPGs if you like that sort of thing.

There is Soulcalibur 4 and Virtual Fighter 5 if you like the ruffsy tuffsy stuff.

I would also suggest Warhawk cause it is the only game that I have seen to blend air combat with ground tactics and is a lot of fun.

Oh and almost forgot the Orange Box, Portal I found to be a lot more fun and challenging then Mirror's Edge and the ending was outstanding. Plus you get Half Life and Team Fortres 2 which are also really good, I love valve.

:lol:  I went for Halloween, and it was incredible in the dark .. Behemoth destroys any roller coaster I've been on ..

The fear fest was lame itself (I knew it would be) but they had cool setups, and my buddies and I scared the **** out of people all night .. there was a room in the haunted house that had a strobe light .. and I was trippin' out .. :lol:

CoD4-if you experience online you will know multiplayer game meaning

MGS4-need i say anything

Fallout 3-what,you dint hear bout it,were you living in a vault?!

Warhawk-probably the only online game with so much freedom and choice

Burnout Paradise-I hate(d) racers but paradise was paradise (heaven)

Uncharted-some people loved it but dint get it cuz there was no trophies,now there are,u aint got no excuse

dead space-if you liked bioshock,you will love this,other than that,you will love it unless you are scared

resistance 2-you definitely shoudnt resist resistance's forces with online almost better than CoD4 at a point

Killzone 2:were you left in the past,well if not,this is the future,go,kill helghan,go kill psn users (online lol)

street fighter 4-yes i did play all the street fightersfrom when i was born,but the 4s system is a bit different and easy to learn for noobs
