Will EA be making a MVP 08? I know, I know, they don't have the rights to the MLB franchise. But they didn't put their college baseball game on PS3 and I was wondering if they will this year. I hope so...I have looked but I can't find any information about any release. If anyone knows, I would like to know. Thanks.

Yea, I know about the MLB games. Played em too. Just really prefer College Sports over Pro. I don't have time to play 162 games. And any kind of abbrevaited profesional season, I feel is not a true simulation. SOOOOOOO, anyone know if the college game is coming out?

EA can't make another MVP. Take Two owns the rights to third party development for all MLB properties. That means that other 3rd party developers like EA cannot make an officially licensed MLB product. 1st party developers, however, (Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft) are allowed to develop and release officially licensed products (pending MLB approval, of course). That's why the only two baseball games on the market are the MLB 2k series and the Show series.

The deal was primarily Take Two's response to EA's exclusive NFL deal. EA's deal effectively destroyed Take Two's NFL 2k series (sadly). Take Two responded by destroying EA's MVP/Triple Play series.

Personally I think both deals are bad for gamers. EA has proven to be complacent with Madden. They've failed to improve on the game each and every year since they signed their exclusive deal. The same can be said for Take Two and the 2k series. Without competition, both companies can get by with half assed development.

Fortunately for us PS3 baseball fans we have The Show, arguably the best baseball game of all time.

Can't agree with that at all. The ASB franchise struggled before going under. I used to love that game, but by the 03-05 games it just wasn't as good as the previous incarnations. 05 was a bit better, but definitely not better than The Show.

A lot of people enjoyed the MVP series. I never was particularly enamoured with it, so it's probably a matter of taste. The Show is a very good game and I'd expect 08 to improve quite a bit over 07. At the very least it is leaps and bounds above the 2k series right now.

Completely agree, the show is that far superior baseball that has ever come out.

A college baseball game would be pretty pointless. The biggest reason why college football games sell is because of the fan culture and the differences in the game itself from the pro level. College baseball doesn't have nearly the same level of fan support, nor does it have any significant rule differences from the pro level.

Basically, the answer is no, EA is not and likely will not make a college baseball game.

Well one big feature is the superstar mode, create a baseball player and live his career...I think more games need to do this or if not I think all do this now such as madden, tiger, and the show...Other thing is the franchise is extremely deep so its not just baseball but everything else that goes along with it such as advertising, taking out loans, buying jets, ticket and parking prices...It is deeper then any other franchise period...Its got everything MVP had and what the 2k series has but with extra add-ons, better graphics and in my opinion better pitching and baseball mechanics...Plus if you do read reviews, absolutely everyone will say the show is better in every aspect....Anyways hope thats helps...I personally buy it for the superstar aspect and franchise...The minigames feel kind of tacked on but everything else is good..
