Now before i get flamed and blasted, i want to say that Killzone 2 is an amazing game and a great exclusive. It has very polished gameplay, breathtaking graphics, and an amazing mulitplayer component, but the one thing that i did not like was the campaign.

it wasn't really the campaign i did not like, it was the structure of it. Why am i playing as the ISA? the beginning intro of the game where Visari is talking makes it seems as if you are going to play as a Helghast soldier throughout the campaign, which got me pumped, but you don't. the game makes it seem as if the ISA are the bad guys and the Helghast are the good guys and whenever there is any promotional stuff for Killzone 2 its almost always from the prospective of the Helghast. Take for example the description of the boltgun trailer on PSN, its from the Helghast perspective.

Why couldn't they have just at least made half of it from the viewpoint of the ISA and the other half Helghast, or just completely Helghast? I mean its their planet thats being invaded and it would be cool to see the war from their perspective and just to see how Helghast live and what they do. I think we can all agree that the Helghast are much cooler than the ISA and the symbol of the Killzone franchise. I hope Killzone 3 has a campaign where you play as the Helghast.

P.S. sorry for the rant and the long post.

they didnt really announce many helghast characters only radec visari and so on...they might have to create a brand new story line if we were to play from helghast...but they are the evil side in this game so i dont think they are to concerned about them

My biggest complaint is that they release 2 map pack at £4.79 each, so ok i buy them and then suddenly they bring out the new map pack at £4.79; but shock horror they release another one as well at the same time that has all 3 of them for £9.99.

which is quite annoying because now i don't want to buy this new map pack because i feel cheated.

The 2005 trailer showed that you were part of the ISA, idk how that didn't get to you but it was very clear in the beggining that you were going to play a guy from the ISA. Plus, since the first game we were introduced to the ISA as the good guys and the Helghast as the bad guys.

eo_the_shaman

all they have to do is create three or four more main Helghast characters. Rico, Sev, and Natko, and Garza are really bland and uninteresting characters, i thought Garza and Natko were the same person.

Yeah, it does strike me as a bit odd that every chance they get, the helghast are being victimized.... do they ever even show the helghast doing anything truly wrong? The first game they were invading ISA... after they had been run off the planet... can't really blame them. Now the ISA are trying to take the one place they've managed to settle in and make a home. :P Poor helghast!

I liked Killzone 2. I thought it was very well polished and had really good gameplay. I have yet to finish it as I got frustrated with one issue, the helghast need a kagillion bullets to go down!!! I'll be halfway through a mag, come up against and enemy and have to change the mag (and then get shot in the process) cos 200 bullets wasn't enough to put him down.

I might go back to it one day, I think I'm right near the end aswell though.

I think Guerilla is going for a subtle "maybe we're the bad guys" approach, then again the ending of KZ2 sort of makes it moot, plus Radec andVisariare portrayed as such bad guys I don't even know how they could unless they tried some crappy Haze trick (where the bad guy is actually a good guy or some BS). I think I'll stick to the ISA thank you very much.

He shouldn't be punished for being an early adopter and buying their DLC when it was first released though. That's how you support a game you like. It's extremely frustrating when you support a game and then you feel ripped off once they release a bundle. Oh well, that's just the way things work I suppose.

Its the same in most WW2 games ( Call of Duty 1,2,3, WAW and Battlefield). You always play as the Allies and never the Germens or Japanese.

Then Do you complain about other games?Your right it would be great, but unlikely to happen. In the Gears campaign you dont play as the Locusts. In Halo you dont play as the enemies. Its just how games are. You probably just noticed this because you think hellghast are the greatest enemies.

I was a little dumbfounded myself when it comes to Kilzone 2 story, the game is so hectic and war zone that they haven't really included proper explanation story pieces. You have a valid point I agree on as well.

Now, I decided to snoop a little bit online and to my surprise on the actual http://www.killzone.com/kz/storyline.psml the storyline is actually very good.

It would had been great if they somehow could had included the story but FPS games this days, aside from very few, don't concentrate on the story as much as I'd like to see it.

If you're interested in Killzone 2 story arcs, check the website above and read from the beginning of era to the end. (Just before Killzone 2 starts).

Everything is explained and actually found it very well written. Helghan are not what they are made to appear, many will argue them labeled as bad guys.

jdiamnz69

well other games don't have the main enemy as the cover art. imagine if Gears of War had just a big Locust face as the cover art, one could assume that you would play as the Locust. I mean i wouldn't be ranting if it weren't for the fact that the cover art is a Helghast dude, the main intro of the game where Visari is taking to you apperantly makes it as if you are going to play as the Helghast and just plain and simple the Helghast are the greatest enemies. I mean in Halo 2 you did play as the Elite, so why not Killzone 2 play as a grunt in the Helghast army and make your way to the top as you win more battles, kind of like the campaign for Dawn of War Dark Crusade.

BTW, i'm not the only one who asks for this, in a recent interview with the head honcho of Guerilla Games, the interviewer asked if they would make a Killzone game starring the Helghast and the designer said it was an interesting idea. i don't know what that means, but i'm going to find the link.

you have heard of ww2 games right? why dont you play as the german, italian or japanese in those games? their lands were being intruded on as well....so why play as the isa? because its not always about whos the good and whos the bad...im sure americans and japanese see a different way about whos good and whose bad...

to show the best example ill use a movie....

i forget what the movie is called but it has jamie foxx and jennifer garner along with various other stars i think its called the kingdom and during the movie a terroristic attack happens and a close friend of jg dies...she starts crying...so jf walks up to her and whispers something into her ear she calms down and later on in the movie they are attacking a house full of terrorists and one gets shot that terrorist had a son or grandson and told him to come over to him and starts whispering in his ear....later on in the movie it goes to the mother and boy and they ask him what he said....you read subtitles saying "dont worry we're going to kill them all".....then it goes to jg and someone asks her what jf said to her while she was crying and she says,"he said dont worry about it we're going to kill them all..."

do i agree with you though yeah id definitely like to see a spin-off of the game with a helghast protagonist....but see the reason you play as ISA i believe is because they are actually weaker in a way if you look at it it was supposed to make a discomfort...i mean youre in a foreign planet and you dont know whats going on limited weapons limited back up...wouldnt you feel much comfortable if it was your home planet and the AI could handle everything for you?

I thought that the campaign was excellent. It was a fun play through. I felt like you really got to connect with the characters however they were not many important Helghast characters, but what do you expect they are the enemy.
