well technically no gun is illegal to own. Because under ( I'm assuming you live in the U.S.) Federal Law no gun is illegal to own you just have to go through a lot of crap to get it, but State and Local laws may prohibit you from owning any gun. The only thing similar to any of the cool weapons that you could get is an AR15 bushmaster which is pretty much identical to the m4 carbine minus the burst and full auto modes. You could even add some of the attachments such as an adjustable butt stock, flash suppressors and close quarter sights. There are a few states in which they are illigal. I would personally love to have one of these but I live in California - where they are illigal. Check google and you can find which states have assault weapon bans. It's somewhere around only 10 states.

Well it does depend largely on what state you live in. How old is your brother? That may make a difference...if he's a young'n, I can't imagine him WANTING to shoot say, a .50 Desert Eagle, well atleast shoot it twice, haha. Much of the weapons in the game are actual military weapons used by nations around the world, but to be able to own these as a civilian would take lots of paperwork, and probably even a small scale investigation as to why you would want these weapons. And yes, like others have said, they will be stripped down considerably.

You can pick up the nanites at walmart so you can use all the guns as a citizen. I mean really fellas these are war weapons. Used by troops in order to wage war. You can't buy these at Bubbas Gun Shop. You can get some old army surplus stuff , but it's been stripped down and rendered single shot or only short bursts and if you modify them for full auto you go to jail where there's another kinda Bubba with a different kinda "gun" and you don't wanna go there either.The_profeshenal

Even in those cases, there is a limit to how many you can own without "stockpiling weapons" and having the ATF / FBI breathing down your neck and the IRS up your assets.
