I purchased recently purchased my second PS3. I was hesitant at first to purchase the super slim because of the design and the sliding cover but I did anyway. How do you like your Super Slim? Here is my take on the super slim vs slim...

Cost? Edge goes to SUPER SLIM... My 120gb slim cost me $299.99 + tax at the time I got it. The 500gb super slim cost me only $229.99 (with no tax and came with Assassins Creed 3). If I were to sell the game, it would make the the super slim to be around $190.00. Big edge there!

Appearance and Quality? Edge goes to SLIM... I am big fan of the slim's look and quality. I think it is clearly the best looking of the 3 PS3 models especially with the matte finish. The Super Slim is actually way better looking in person than from the computer screen which surprised me. It almost looks "silvery" on the computer screen pics but it actually isn't. It has black corrugated lines with glossy black. I am not a fan of glossy black but it does match my samsung glossy black tv well. I still prefer the slim look though.

Size? Edge goes to SUPER SLIM... Love the small size especially since I put vertically next to my TV. Smaller is better.

Sound? Edge goes to SLIM... The slim is actually quieter but the super slim is pretty quiet as well. Not much difference though but the super slim drive sounds a tad louder. Not a big deal though at all. Neither of the 2 are as loud as the fat ps3s which sound like a chopper.

GB? Edge goes to SUPER SLIM... 500 GB > 120 GB.... My slim filled up pretty quickly.

Electricity? Edge goes to SUPER SLIM

Features? EVEN

Stand? I purchased both original PS3 stands for both models. I think the slim stand looks better than the super slim stand. The super slim stand was overpriced and it looks like a couple CDs just sitting underneath your super slim ps3. Both were very necessary as I wanted my PS3s vertical to save space and keep them in open air. Edge goes to SLIM STAND.

How do you like your super slim? I am happy with the super slim especially considering the price and GBs.

I bought a 250GB Super Slim to replace my 320GB Uncharted 3 Slim that died. So far so good. The only complaints I have about the SS are the way the discs are placed onto the spindle. I definitely seem to touch the discs more now than I used to. Also not having a lighted eject button makes loading and unloading a disc in a darker room a little harder. You end up having to feel for the button instead of it being lit up. Neither is that big of a deal, just minor gripes. Overall it seems to be a solid system. Although I'm not convinced that the sliding door over the BD drive won't be a problem down the road, but only time will tell.

Just simply perfect. Had A PHAT for four years, didn't want to change but a red blinkin light forced me too, but the new one is far superior, I've not even heard the fan yet!

I've been thinking about possibly getting a super slim at some point.  Based off of what you all have to say, it might not be a bad call.

Just wondering, why might some of you be concerned about the sliding cover?

I'm kind of partial to the white system, though the black and red ones also look decent so I guess I'd be fine with any of the three.  I think it would be kind of neat if they released a grey one - then it would have that kind of retro-y PS1 feel to it.

I just bought a Super Slim cause my old Fatty got the YLOD, I was hesitant on getting the Super Slim but I wasn't going to pay more for the Slim version.

You must have gotten yours from the newegg sale or something, I got mine about 2 weeks before that sale. I got the 250 gig Uncharted 3 bundle for $270 and I saw that sale after I bought mine and was alittle POed but its all right, I didnt want to wait any longer than I had to to get mine replaced.

I havnt had any issues with the new one and have played longer hours than I dared to on the fat one for fear of the YLOD that I got anyway. Also hardly any noise from the new one, the fan on the old one was pretty loud.

I had my PS3 250GB superslim die on me. 20 days after I bought it. I had it replaced with no difficulties from Gamestop. But this is the first time a brand new console died on me. I have a had a brand new PS3 phat the PS3 40Giger, Brand new 120Giger slim PS3, 320giger PS3, and a 2007 PS3 phat 60giger (used) That worked fine.

Currently have a PS3 Phat 60GB, PS3 slim 320GB and my second PS3 250GB superslim. So it is just bad luck that I got a superslim that died on me. The second one works fine. Epic spouse has a 120 Slim and another 60GB PS3.

So in all of the PS3 Only the superslim 250GB has died on me. The 2 60GB phats worked, and the 40,120,320 GBs were brand new and worked fine.

The superslim is my least favorite and the only console that died on me. Just bad luck.

With my ps+ subscription 15 months,  i am kind of glad that i got the 500gb version. I thought the 320gb version would have been fine but the 500gb assassins creed 3 bundle was on sale for $229.99 with free shipping and no tax (newegg/ebay). Also, i got like $7 ebay bucks back. I know i can delete and download ps+ games but that takes time. Some of these ps+ games are over 12gb. With all my downloaded games and ps+ games, i am already at 195gb.... I was that person who said that they wouldnt purchase psn games years ago. Digging the super slim.... also max payne 3.

I didn't like the superslim design judging from the pics on my computer screen. The pictures don't really do it justice. It looks much better in person with the design and especially the size. Also, you are getting a ton more GBs from the superslim over the slim.

160gb Slim is the best model. Super Slim doesn't have a auto disc feed which sucks.

Except if your console dies or malfunctions you can still get your disc out....and it saves energy. Honestly the new PS3 looks really cool, at least I think so.

This is what I have been thinking since I got a used 'phat' PS3. I don't think the auto disc feed is the best option, I'd actually much prefer a disc cradle that I can manually open up somehow. It would be a shame if I had no way of ejecting one of my game discs because the console stopped working.
