Your eyesight isn't getting worse because of CoD4, it's cuz you don't sit back far enough from the TV. I wouldn't go posting that kinda stuff around here, especially if it's your own fault. Sit further away, problem solved.

I have a 42" TV, and I sit about 10 or 11 feet away when I play COD4. My vision is 20/20.

I sit like 3-4 ft from my hdtv. I think getting some more sleep will help my eyesight. Need sleep bad. But this game is kinda addictive like CS.

Sit farther back and NEVER be in a completely dark room withaTV (HDTV especially) on at night. It's forcing your eyes to adjust to dark and brightness at the same time.

It is theorhetically possible that eyesight can become worse the more time you spend in front of a screen or tv. When I went to the optometrist because I could no longer read the clock on the microwave which was 20 feet away ( I needed to stand 10ft from it to read it) He said I needed glasses.

So I asked him what caused me to require getting glasses. He said that the muscles around the eye that cause you to see far away are the same as any other muscle in the human body. The more you work those muscles the stronger they get in a sense. It takes more muscle to look close rather than far away, and because of how long I spend looking at a computer each day (at work I stare at a computer and such and at home I am on my laptop or watching tv) it caused the muscles to tighten around my eyes causing me to be near sited.

So that is why I have glasses at least. So I guess it could possible happen and like many statistics there is a person probably that does the same exact thing I do and doesn't need glasses.

There is a way to prevent this. Stay at a good distance. Don't watch the tv in a dark room or have a glare over the screen because your eyes will strugle trying to focus in that lighting envirmoent.Get an LCDor Plasma because they don't hurt your eyes so much. And try to take a 5-10 minute break between every hour. I only wish i could have done this earlier. Oh well i have glasses and they are ok.

Man you guys should stop complaining. I've had to wear glasses since the 4th grade, and within a few years, i was wearing thick glasses. I have to hold a book right in front of my eyes to read anything without glasses. I am -7 in one eye, -5 in the other which is not very common. I constantly battle terrible night vision, and glare and starburst rays off the tv.

I would give anything to have only minor vision problems like you guys.

I swear man, glasses help sooo much. When my bro got glasses, he couldnt put down the controller.

I wear contacts now, and play it on a 98' hdtv screen, and i dont miss anything when i snipe :D

2 words: contact lenses, I love em, no glasses, no hassle. I developed bad vision when I was younger, due to leaving the light on while I sleep years ago. That combined with gaming for years and years can cause bad vision. But everyone is different, some people can do that stuff and keep 20/20 vision. Someday, I want laser correction for my eyes (sooo expensive...)

I always do this just because I figured that watching TV with the light on would cause a glare, which would seem to be worse on your eyes when trying to pay attention to the TV.

Depends where the light is located. Ideally you'd want it in a corner where the TV would't glare. It doesn't need to be a bright lamp either. Just a little light.
