So was playing Killzone 2 and in the middle of a match my Ps3 got the YLOD, and I am unable to turn it back on. Is there any way for me to get my game saves off the HDD? I found this external HDD docking stationwould that work?

Thanks!!!!

What i would try is removing the hdd, and put it into a desktop with an adapter or into a usb/firewire external case and connect it to a linux based system. I dont think it would work in windows.

Maybe when you get a new PS3 or have your's fixed you can just put your current HDD in? Maybe that would work.

i'm pretty sure, when you remove a ps3 hard drive and try to put it back in or in any other ps3, it forces you to format it, i think you even have to format it to work when you put it in a pc =/. I'm putting my money on your files being forever lost. Sorry.

I would assume it would work in a different PS3. Unless the HDD is totally boned.

all games realted to trophies are not backupable

i had the ylod and but i had just upgraded to a 500gb hd a week before it so i did the create back up thing

basically with the create backup/restore function saved files for copyprotected trophy games, install files and psn games where not copied over after the ylod fix

ie.burnout paradise, flower where restored but killzone2, resistance2, sf4 did not get restored

but when i did the backup/restore for the upgrade from 60gb to 500 gb everything was copied over even the music i had on the hard drive and the mgs4 theme i had automatically installed

edit: when i did the restore after the ylod fix i got a message saying somthing about different motherboard therefore not all files can be restored so im guessing if fixing ur ps3 doesnt consist of motherboard issues then everyhting will be fixed

i said " youre dumb" ... and they reported me... very mature. But what can you do right? Anyways. Ya i heard how a lot of games have locked game saves, But i thought they only were locked to the user, aka if i saved with my user name zevin only i can copy that file.
