My ps3 cannot read Blurays

think that the laser on the bluray is dead, I have cleaned it, but nothing, I have no warranty btw...

Should I take it somewere and get them to replace the bluray drive which is cheaper but am not sure whether it will work again, should trust them ? or should I buy new ps3 ?

The same thing happened with my 80GB this month. I bought it in April '09, and the warranty ran out a little too early for my taste. :? Although, I thought the update had become corrupt, and reformatting the HDD didn't help.

I've since replaced it with a 320GB slim, and am happier.
