Well so this what happen, I was playing uncharted and it freeze , this was the first time, then I turn it off wait some seconds and turn it on again but it didn't want to read any disc. So i wait then do he same thing and it read all of my games. 3 days later , today, I was playing uncharted and it again freeze , I do the same procedure for a long time but now it don't want to read any discs, It appears corrupted Data, or sometimes it appears nothing. So what can I do ??? I've got a 40GB PS3 since july 2008, I live in Peru so is not that simple for me to call sony and they bring me a new one. maybe in the store I buy it they'll reapair it , hope so, the other possibility is to buy a new ps3. You know the reason of this problem? Could it be the Bluray lens?? And the last question , in the case I have to buy a new ps3 , is it possible to copy my save files into the new one? my trophies will dissapear? or all I need to do is to sign in from the new PS3 with my account? thanks for the help I will really appreciate it

Are you serious?! I've owned 3 PS3s for years and not a single issue with any of them. Do you clean your discs when dirty? Do you know how to delete files and reinstall them when they get corrupted?! Do you keep your PS3 well ventilated and dust free?! PS3s don't break themselves, poor care and misuse breaks PS3s. Good luck.

If there is corrupt data then that could mean that it froze while it was saving. ie: At a checkpoint or something, that might be why it is having trouble reading the disc.

LOL! Anyways, you can save most game data to a USB card, only a few of the new ones are copy protected. The ones that are copy protected would require you to do a full backup of your system. In regards to trophies, they still with your PSN account, not on your PS3.

Where did you buy it from? Try writing down the serial code and go back to the store and ask them to print you a new receipt, then I guess find a way to send it to Sony. OR Bring it to a local console repair shop and get it repaired for a small fee OR google blu ray lens tutorial and do it yourself if your handy like that. This happened to me too, I was going to do it myself but I found someone to do it for me for the same price I would've paid to buy the lens locally. Good luck with that

my ps3 is in a well-ventilated area and also in a slightly lower then room temperature room (my room is the coldest in the house). its not covered in dust and ran very well. i play it for about 5-8 hours on weekends if i am stuck at home or not and 3 hours on weekdays after school. well it seemed to have broke it self on me when it decided to go yellow light on me.
