Come on guys, relax a little. Although unlikely that the person on the other would've said that, everyone slips up every now and again (they are only human). I'm sure everyone here has done that at least once. Also, he (on the Sony end)could've meant that of the problems the PS3 may experience (because, yes, everything is susceptible to failure or a bad unit. Everything!) overheating is numero uno on that list. It would make sense, as that does seem to be a common problem with electronics in general with heat being a byproduct of using electricity. No need to insult them over all this, really.
Now, that said, maybe it overheated due to the ambient temperature surrounding the PS3 being unusually high to start with. I'd recomend that the TC make sure he places his new unit in a nice, well ventilated area, that stays somewhat cool. Also, on the note of the 360, make sure that if you own both systems, the vents on one doesn't face teh other. If, say, the 360 was on (dl'ing something, or whatever) and it's exhaust vent was facing near a vent on the PS3, that could've quite easily caused the PS3 to overheat. Or, maybe, it was just a lemon. After all, with a failure rate of 1%, that means 1% of PS3 owners experience a problem, maybe the TC was one of them. Just a few thoughts.
