Was it ever modded? The factory fans don't "scream" as you say. If its that loud then the fans must have been "upgraded" at some point to allow for superior cooling. Superior cooling comes at the cost of less peace and quiet. If this is the case then I'd suggest going on eBay and getting yourself a stock fan and replacing it. If this isn't the case then it isn't as loud as you're trying to portray and you should learn to ignore it............ Also, is it in a tight cubby or something in your entertainment center? Its not supposed to be. They are supposed to be in large, open areas. In tight areas they'd get hot too quickly and cause the fans to run at their highest settings the entire time you're playing.

If you've taken it apart already, I suggest you buy some arctic silver 5 (thermal compound) and replace the existing stuff on the cpu and gpu. When I fixed my console I replaced the compound and the system became silent again. The thermal compound in my console dried up making the fan loud, leading to the death of the system.

Okay, then maybe you should change the thermal compound like phoonbaba suggested or it could be the heat sensor is going bad. If all else fails just get that golf club and do your worse! :P j/k. The fan would only ever get that loud if it was extremely hot. There's no way it could get that hot in the first five seconds of being turned on. There's obviously a malfunction that the factory guys are completely overlooking. Mine's never gotten over a soft hum. I usually never hear it at all.

but still, the way hes makin it out to sound that its that loud? is almost impossible. come on dude, i believe u its louder than it suppose to be, but hearing all over ur house? louder than ur tvs volume or when u gaming and its still louder than that, u either really didnt take care of it or u modded.

anyways this is isnt a ohh ur a liar post, but u have 3 options, ONE take it apart again and clean it and clean the fan very good. then put it together and cover it with a shirt so no dirt goes in it, wait a FULL day then go back to it, if its still like that,OPTION 2 then do wat phnoon said. and if u still cant do anythin sony is ur best bet AND FINAL OPTION. but again, but at least when u turn it on for the first time, and u didnt game for over 8 hrs or so, and u turn ur ps3 does it right away blast to the max? or its silent and slowly when ur gaming it blasts off
