My PS3 gets VERY loud somtimes. Help?

It usually happens when i play PS2 games. If i play PS2 games for about 30-40 minutes or more, it gets loud. This has happened to me once with a PS3 game. I was playing Ninja Gaidenfor like, 8 hours. I am very ashamed that a played it for that long so dont give me crap about it, i usually dont play games for over an hou and a half at max.

Is it because my PS3 is on a PS3 Verticale stand, that i bought at Futureshop for $19.99. Or is it because i have a PS3 controller station plugged into it(cost $19.99 at futureshop)? My verticle stand is also plugged into my PS3, it lights up, so does the recharging station thing. DO I HAVE TO MANY HTINGS PLUGGEDIN?

I just bought a PS3 this week ($499 60GB). Mine is whisper quiet. I love my old PS2 games but haven't played any yet (Resistance:FOM keeping me busy) but I'll keep in mind the potential extra noise it could generate. I did transfer all my old PS2 saves to the PS3 HDD via the adaptor (works great). My PS3 is lying flat but when I go to EB Games they have their PS3 placed vertical and it works quite well that way.
