So my 60GB PS3 got the YLOD today and was just wondering what I should do.
I could send it back to Sony and they fix it for a fairly high price.
Or, I could get a PS3 Slim but not sure about my saves etc.
Any recommendations of what I should do?

u could go to a computer fair and get it fixed for about 50pounds, sony is like 100 isnt it?

That would probably void the warranty.

the warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, yeah, sure, Sony will repair ur PS3 for free coz you have the warranty!!!!!!!!!When mine got the YLOD I unplugged all the cords, flipped the console over (bottom facing upward) and whacked the underside with a hammer a couple times (firmly, but obviously not hard enough to break it). I then flipped it back, replugged all the cords, and it has been working like new ever since. This solution might work you too, but I can't guarantee it. What do have to lose, it's already broken and all other potential solutions will cost you more $$$.

Could only be a harddrive problem though.I decided to ring Sony and they will send me a refurbished PS3 for £120 and should be here by Wednesday. :)
Excellent.
If that one breaks(that i hope it wont) i think you should get the slim cause it has less overheating and less chance of getting the ylod

Wouldn't the warranty be long expired by now anyhows seeing the 60GB was ceased in production more than a year ago? Unless of course you bought extended warranty?Haha get out of town. When mine got the YLOD I unplugged all the cords, flipped the console over (bottom facing upward) and whacked the underside with a hammer a couple times (firmly, but obviously not hard enough to break it).
