My PS3 Got the YLOD Yesterday...

I've had it since January '07, it was a good run, thankfully i played all the newest games and none are coming out that catch my attention, atleastuntil November. It was a 60 GB, so i suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. I know that while YLOD is not a huge issue, most PS3 failures are due to YLOD, so how many people's PS3's suffered the same fate as mine?

A friend of mine had his MGS4 Gunmetal Grey YLOD on him. Fortunately it was still under warranty. Other than that, I know of about 6 or 7 PS3s that have not had any problems.

My best friend's ps3 caught the ylod last week, so it's happening. However, we're heading to chinatown here in nyc to fix his. I had my 60gb since day 1 & hopefully I wont have to go through this.

just had it happen today, i fixed it though. had to rebuild the whole dang thing :evil:

Damnit you lucky! I got mine in Jan 07 as well but it died in April 09, although I am getting it fixed tomorrow from some store near my house so I can't wait for it back! :D

I caught the ylod the other night... Fixed it myself, easy peasy.. Dont pay sony 150 bucks to fix something you can do yourself. u just need some small screwdrivers, a heat gun, and memory like an elephant to remember where the different screws go when you're tryin to put the beast back together lol

The small amount of people that did experienced the problem with PS3 (myself included) are the early adopters, in my case original 60GB model that I also purchased in January 2007.

After I sent it for replacement, I haven't experienced any issues. ;)

mines still stands proud! althought ive been tempted to buy another launch 60 gb system so i can be safe then sorry
