I just got my new hdtv yesterday and hdmi cords to go with the setup. After I hooked everything up to my ps3 I noticed little white dots popping up when the screen goes black. (Before I log into folding at home) Is there a way that I can get rid of these small white dots?MusashiSensi
Im pretty sure that mine is doing the same thing, only its not dots it spots on mine, maybe its just the way they are who knows, cause it doesnt matter if i connect my ps3 with a component cable or hdmi cable it still does it when the screen is dark, but when theres color on the screen everything looks great

Exactly!!! hahaha something similar happened to me, I bought a new HDTV 40" Samsung LCD, but at the same time I changed my HDD to a 120 GB's, and due to the TV bought a nsony HDMI Cable... and strange effects started happening on the TV, like ghosting that only shows sometimes and sometimes is perfect so I thought the next things.
* the TV is not right calibrated
* Something happened to my PS3 with the change of HDD
* Im not used to big screens and since Im the kind of person that notices EVERY LITTLE DETAIL (even when they might be normal) and is just me that it is paranoid.
Anyway, somebody mentioned that sometimes ghosting or other effects happened when you set to "ON" the image enhancers of the TV (such as dynamic contrast etc etc)
So yesterday at night I turned of all of this settings that supposendly gives you a better image and so far so good... the ghosting problem disapeared, but hey, I just tested it a little last night, so this weekend is the extensive testing... but so far so good
it comes from cheap quality hdmi chords. try costco for a good one. i got a set that came with two hdmi chords and two component cable hookups (the hdmi chords work with the ps3 but the component chords are not the ones for video game set up) for $89.99.
they have another package that has one of each chord for $54.99.
maybe u have ur ps3 set to 1080p, and ur t.v. doesnt support it.Raijinko
As far as I know, that is impossible, you cant have 1080p configured if your TV dont support it, you wont get any image at all... as far as I know since I have two other samsung HDTV's that only support 720p and 1080i, when I configured the PS3 to 1080p, the screens just got Black and after 30 secs the screen returned to 720p

I'm pretty sure that it is. Although it might just be cheap HDMI cables because I paid $90 for a psyclone one that gave me white dots on my new HDTV. It only happens when in 1080p because it worked fine with my old tv that only had 720p. I switched the cable out with another cheaper hdmi cable I had, and it fixed the problem.

Ummm...My tv accepts it man. It's a sony bravia 60 inch that rocks full 1080p.

I'm pretty sure that it's not since my cables were not cheap, so you're way off.

I mean cheap in the sense that they weren't made well. I don't think $90 is cheap for hdmi cables. I bought a brand new 46in Sony Bravia XBR4, and had the same problem. I switched my cables out and everything works great now. Maybe you should try my suggestion and see if it works. What cable do you have? I'm just trying to help you, but it seems you don't know how to take advice and use it.
sounds like dead pixels to me.. :Texpanded
they're not dead because they fill in when the screen isn't black...at least in my case...but it sounds like the same problem he's having.

Well I have a 42" Panasonic plasma which is native 720p and my PS3 detects it as1080p, strange thing is the picture looks fine this way.But I also have a 32" 720p (LCD) that if i leave the PS3 set to 1080p, I get the same weird dots all over, which would be expected.
