and this all started since the greatly anticipated 2.0 update. I have the 60GB version and since the update its been downhill, at first it was just the slow network/downloads, then the occational stalling when loading games, now its freezing quite often and I have to flip the switch in teh back to turn it back off. I'm not gonna use it until a new upgrade comes out that can fix what 2.0 did so that it doesn't further hurt my PS3. They shoulda more carefully checked this out before releasing it. Now I gotta wait for another update and hopefully "fix" my issues.

Rest my PS3, rest for now.

I don't think its my PS3, I think its the firmware updates causing these glitches, I've also had this system since close to launch, and it didn't start until teh same day as the 2.0 update. I really would hate to have to send it in because of Sony's updates. I really do enjoy my PS3.

Well this time I wasn't playing a game I was in the XMB listening to music while browsing the web, then it just froze on me. That was a few minutes ago, I got my PS3 powered off for now.

Yeah, I have to say I feel bad for people who have had problems since 2.0. But I have had NONE, what so ever, I even keep the info bar up and it runs fine

Just hide the psn news and it should be fine. Thats what I did with mine and no more freezing. It did only freeze once tho.

Mine hasn't frozen. Except for the temporary problem with the network, I have had no problems with 2.00. My advice: Just wait until the new update, which should be soon, if the removing the news bar thing doesn't work. If, even after 2.01 you are still haveing trouble with it, give Sony a call.

The way you guys keep complaining, you're just giving Sony an even better reason for us to not get In-Game XMB. Good job. >.>

yes Ive heard many complaints about the 2.00 slowing down the xmb and freezing the games. I havent had a problem (and I pull sometimes 10 hours gaming sprees, but I have an 80 model so they may have a difference). Thats why they are releasing the 2.01 soon. What you can try to do is reinstall a previous update and then wait for the 2.01 to come, so that you can at least play without a worry

i said it 10 times or more

after the update 2.0, if it freezes

go in settings > Restore Default Settings

(yes you will have to set your display options back and your internet connection, but DO IT )

As long as my IP is working my PS3 runs faster than before, although shortly after the 2.0 update was releasesd my IP had a bunch of problems until about Monday when the device that was giving the system problems finally failed completely. When there was no internet the information bar took all the resources of the PS3 and caused things to run much slower than most on here are complaining about. So with this many of these problems could be because the IP speed is lower than it should be or a router signal that isn't as strong as it should be.

So with this many of the problems could be because of issues that I covered above.

I don't think you can go back to the previous firmware on the PS3 once you have installed the latest firmware.

Make a backup of your saves, then erase the HDD. I think there is an option in the system menu
