Sounds like it is overheating. What is your room temp?

In the horizontal position make sure there is enough room on the right and back sides since these are where the vents are. Also when putting it vertically do not have it sit on the right side since that is where the majority of heat is pushed out.

Try blowing-out the air vents, it could be dust build-up. From what I've been reading at other sites that was one of the major cause's of freezing.

Mine did that for about 2 or 3 days then it wouldn't play any games and then it wouldnt read any of the discs so it looks like after it is over you are going to have to drop down $161 bucks to get it repaired.

I reccomend calling Sony because if the problem doesn't fix they will just give a new one, and if your worried about losing your themes, games saves etc, back them up before you give them the PS3.

^ I agree with this user. It sounds like you have tried all your options except for contacting Sony. It can't hurt to give them a call. They'll probably make a few suggestions and if they don't work they'll have you send it in.

He already did, what he needs to do is call SONY, if he can go through with the service and over the phone advertisements....
