My psp freezes when it's shaken lightly. Also, it seems to randomly freeze up every 15 or so minutes while playing a game. I tried reinstalling the firmware. What could be the problem? The screen of the game will freeze (on we frame it was on) and then the whole system will shut off 5 seconds after that. Help :(

did you drop your psp? Or perhaps its your battery thats falling out everytime, you could try replaceing that but its 50$ so i'd just take my chances with getting a new psp. i hope you got a warrenty. or if its not the battery it could be something in the disk slot? id look around in there and see if you knocked something loose.

Well the umd drive was ripped out a long time ago. I had to disconnect it because it was clicking and not working. I'm playing ISOs from my memory stick (I do own the actual UMD games, but I obviously can't use those). I think it has something to do with the metal framming inside the psp. The frames touch contact points and I think that is some kind of safety mechanism? It used to freeze when I pushed lightly on the case, so I put electrical tape over the contact points in that area and it stopped that behavior. I've tried taping all the points, but it didn't seem to fix it entirely. I need someone with experience for this sort of problem I think. Any help is appreciated. PS: It used to freeze even in the XMB. Since there are no moving parts now and I taped it, it only freezes in game (mostly). The battery is fine, and this freezing happens even on JUST AC power.

Here's a novel idea why don't you quit shaking it.

Thanks there, Sherlock. The only problem is that freezes when even lightly shaken. Therefore defeating the purpose of it being a portable system.

@elk1007: "... I need someone with experience for this sort of problem ...".

Well, I think you figured out your own problem.
Go find someone experienced with fixing handhelds or cell phones. 8)
