My slim PSP makes this weird clicking noise like it hates me for using a UMD!

Greetings Gamespot users,

Is it just me, or does the PSP makes this werid scretching noise when you pop in a UMD.It goes back and forth constantly. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, because I don't like to hear noises like that because I feel the thing is defective in some respects. Eh, it's a machine, it's gonna fade sooner or latter, but...

Is the PSP just retreiving data from the UMD, so it makes that sound? Is this scretch like sound normal? I just flip the flap, throw in the game, and close the tray. I wonder if that's how you put the games in, because I believe the games don't lock in as they did in the old PSP. With this one, you just place it in against the metal bar going horizontaly, and close the tray on top of it...

So, what's up with that werid noise? Hope you guys know what I'm talking about.

-peace

Same, always "wsh" and "wsk" and "tck" sounds that go on. Very annoying when things are silent. Sometimes it's louder than the sound on my game. Though I have no idea how to fix it, just thought I'd share the burden of his problem.

That's totally normal. It's just the spinning of the disc and such. I never even hear it though because I always use head phones.

I might have this wrong but I believe the answer is the psp 2000 & 3000 have a free-floating umd setup whereas the 1000 is fixed. Yes its normal to hear these sounds but if you ask me its kind of a design flaw
