If I were you I would burn it :o
reallyit's not that big of a deal, play games in 720p and watch tv in 1080i(if you have HD service)
1080p is only realy relevant in the bigger size such as 42 plus my friend has a 32" 1080i and i have a 42" 1080p and the difference can only be noticed if you were to look closely however wht i will say is that my living room tv is a marantz 50" 1080pplasma and my bedroom tv is a sony 42" 1080 lcd and i know people make this argument both ways but the plasma is in my view(meaning i am sure others might disagree) much much better picture than lcd i would be more worried about lcd/plasma than 1080i/1080p
your better off with a 720p/1080i tv this gen if your using consoles my freind casue next to nothing is actualy true 1080p aside from a few small things xmb d/l games and virtua tennis...unless you're using it for your pc aswel like me..which is where i only get most of my 1080p game graphics..
ive got a 1080p tv and for games(consoles) soley i would have liked a 720p tv more casue droppping the res on a 1080p tv to 720p sacrifices picture quality...
so its nothing trust me...
720p looks much better than 1080i anyways.
Try putting in Rainbow Six Vegas, which does both 720p and 1080i. Try 720p first, everything is really clear, the text is nice and legible and the game looks nice. Now, uncheck 720p in the supported resolutions, leaving 1080i. You'll notice, at the very first loading screen, as a matter of fact, as the text is very blurry, the graphics are very fuzzy. The game doesn't look nearly as good. Now, if it were 1080p, it would look incredible and much better than 720p.
I'm sure there are more games that will fit my example, Rainbow is just one that I know of.

IDK on the whole 1080I/P, (I really don't think it will make an earth shattering amount of difference, though, if you watch TV, the cable guys say they're going to upgrade to 1080P) but I'm totaly with you on the plasma LCD. IMO, plasma has a much better picture. It just looks more natural, and, real.

I am not sure why everyone keeps talking about 1080i... it is only 540 lines of EFFECTIVE resolution. You are fine with a 720p tv unless you go larger than 32".which even then a 1080p would only offer a subtle increas in picture quality.

good to know im not the only one i find plasma immerses you in the game/movie much more and the picture is so much richer and faster than lcd i almost prefer to fall asleep on the sofa in front of the plasma than watch the lcd in bed ha ha
It's very hard to tell the difference between 1080i/p you should be fine. EmperorSupreme
