It sucks that your tv doesnt support 1080p however its not a massive loss. A lot of the games are still only supporting 720p (Assassin's Creed, etc) so its not that big a loss. And it looks brilliant anyway. I've got a Tv thats 1080p supportive and another which is only 1080i supportive andwhilst there is a difference its not massive

32 inches you don't see 1080i nor 1080p. 720p looks great nothing to be ashamed, you don't even see 1080p unless you are on a 50inch tv or more. Not even 40inches

1080p is only realy relevant in the bigger size such as 42 plus my friend has a 32" 1080i and i have a 42" 1080p and the difference can only be noticed if you were to look closely however wht i will say is that my living room tv is a marantz 50" 1080pplasma and my bedroom tv is a sony 42" 1080 lcd and i know people make this argument both ways but the plasma is in my view(meaning i am sure others might disagree) much much better picture than lcd i would be more worried about lcd/plasma than 1080i/1080p

your better off with a 720p/1080i tv this gen if your using consoles my freind casue next to nothing is actualy true 1080p aside from a few small things xmb d/l games and virtua tennis...unless you're using it for your pc aswel like me..which is where i only get most of my 1080p game graphics..

ive got a 1080p tv and for games(consoles) soley i would have liked a 720p tv more casue droppping the res on a 1080p tv to 720p sacrifices picture quality...

so its nothing trust me...

Picture quality is top priority when it comes to TVs people. You can have a cheap 1080p LCD that has a terrible contrast ratio out performed by a 720p high quality plasma or lcd. Most of the 1080p LCDs that are below 2 grand are routinely out classed by 1 grand plasmas.

man, all you people that are saying "oh you can only see 1080p at like 50" or more" must be blind. i personally have no problem whatsoever telling the difference between a 1080p image and a 720p image on tv's smaller than 40". if everything else (image processing, blah blah blah) remains relatively equal (i.e. doesn't totally blow) it's pretty easy to tell. 720p sets that are larger than like 35 inches bug the hell out of me because i can see the frickin' pixels from 8 feet away. that said, there are more important display qualities than the resolution difference between 720p and 1080p. things like color accuracy, contrast, black level, geometry, etc. however, if u can get a 1080p display u should get it, because there is definitely an increase in sharpness and detail from the resolution alone, in addition to being able to pick and choose among other things like 1080p/24, for example.

720p looks much better than 1080i anyways.

Try putting in Rainbow Six Vegas, which does both 720p and 1080i. Try 720p first, everything is really clear, the text is nice and legible and the game looks nice. Now, uncheck 720p in the supported resolutions, leaving 1080i. You'll notice, at the very first loading screen, as a matter of fact, as the text is very blurry, the graphics are very fuzzy. The game doesn't look nearly as good. Now, if it were 1080p, it would look incredible and much better than 720p.

I'm sure there are more games that will fit my example, Rainbow is just one that I know of.

I actually bought my 40" Bravia XBR1 too soon. If i would have waited about 3 months i could have gotten a 1080p for what i paid for my XBR1. My Bravia is only 720p and 1080i. Im actually going out tomorrow and picking up a 40" Sony Bravia XBR4 Full 1080p baby.

IDK on the whole 1080I/P, (I really don't think it will make an earth shattering amount of difference, though, if you watch TV, the cable guys say they're going to upgrade to 1080P) but I'm totaly with you on the plasma LCD. IMO, plasma has a much better picture. It just looks more natural, and, real.

UTXII

I am not sure why everyone keeps talking about 1080i... it is only 540 lines of EFFECTIVE resolution. You are fine with a 720p tv unless you go larger than 32".which even then a 1080p would only offer a subtle increas in picture quality.

good to know im not the only one i find plasma immerses you in the game/movie much more and the picture is so much richer and faster than lcd i almost prefer to fall asleep on the sofa in front of the plasma than watch the lcd in bed ha ha

Meh, you're not missing much. Many games aren't 1`080p anyway, they are 'upscaled' (smoothed) from 720p or 1080i.
