Some people will suggest putting your PS3 in a DMZ. CellAnimation
i would never put my PS3 in a demilitarized zone :P
mine NAT3 and never had an issue for online or anything
[QUOTE="Shacks210"]Mine worked on Nat type 3. Infact when I first got my PS3 it was at 5, and everytime I took my PS3 anyplace and brought it back it kept getting lower, now it is at 2.rm_fc
you're joking right ??
No, it started at 5, then took it to my friends and came back it was at 3. Then it stayed at 3 for serveral months when I came back. Now I just got it back from a friend this week and it is at 2.

NAT5 ... um what is that? The move from NAT3 to NAT2 could be as simple as a firmware update fixing any UPnP issues the PS3 had with your router.A DMZ is not a bad thing, the only time it is bad is when you take your IP address from your ISP and put it as that. Otherwise the purpose of a DMZ is that the device that is configured to run on it will bypass the routers firewall. On a company standpoint a DMZ will be the location of such things as the Web Server.
Putting your PS3 on a DMZ will not hurt it, it will not hurt your network.
In other words, no screwing round... you put your PS3 in DMZ and then its configured. No latency issues from the firewall, and no port issues.A DMZ is not a bad thing, the only time it is bad is when you take your IP address from your ISP and put it as that. ... as we mentioned you dont need to worry bout your nat type, just use DMZ.teebeenzSorry, I still don't get what a DMZ is.
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but just to verify this.
I don't have UPNP on my router(time warner carrier with thompson actel router) as an option, so I've forwarded the ports, port triggered the ports and tried DMZ, none of which change my NAT type from 3 to 2.
Are you saying if I simply leave my ps3 on a static ip address and use DMZ then it doesnt matter if my NAT is 3, my chat options will work?
Thank you in advance if this is the case as I've spent hours trying to fix this problem.
