A excellent microphone that I personally use is the Plantronics Explorer 220 is is a amazing headset and the sound and speaker quality is really good. and what I heard all plantronics work great. Just avoid the Motorola Headsets they are a nightmare and are really bad trust me I had 3 of them and they all were not that great.

I use a BlueAnt X-5i Stereo Bluetooth Headset it has a detachable USB mic so if i don't want to chat i can remove the mic and just have the headset going. You can probably find one for around 50 bucks somewhere online.

Most bluetooths work very well with the PS3 .. mic might be possibly cutting out due to NAT3 .. anyways I hear Motorola is good, but if you are like me and hate the ear pieces this is a great one by Plantronics .. I got it ..
