You heard wrong, the 40 GB does have wifi access as well.

Although you do have the PS2 right now for the games on that system i would suggest going for the 60 GB (if you can still get one, they're out of production) or an 80 GB. You'll get that extra bit of hard drive space plus you will also have a backup in case the PS2 decides to kick the bucket on you.

far as i know the 40 gig is pure matte wirth no chrome. i could be wrong about the whole thing being matte but i know the chrome isn't there. 40 isn't backward compatable to ps2 but it is to ps1(you need the ps1 compatability for remote play purposes otherwise im sure that would be gone). 40 gig is missing 2 usb ports on the front, 40 DOES have wifi, 60 is outta production and id be surpirsed if you could get one. if you can get the 60 as they still have the emotion engine chip whereas the 80 is just software emulation

the 60 gb might have the yellow light of death problem. the 40 gb has a diferent part (i don't know wich one) that doesn't makes that happen(i know because my technitian told me). i had the 60gb version and i had that problem, because i live in uruguay i couldn't fix it, i bought the 40gb version
