we was playing black ops last nite and he feel asleep and his son came down stairs and we tried to play zombies for like a half hour. it wouldnt let me join him and it wouldnt let him join me. so i get a message saying he was gonna play it on on his slim up stairs. so im guessing he just ejected the disc from his dads ps3 without shutting down the game or turning off the power because he logged on while his dads ps3 was still on. we still couldnt join each other so i got mad and went to bed.

this morning the dad calls me and says he cant do anything on his ps3. said that his ps3 is telling him that files are corrupted and he needs to restore the hd files. so he runs the restore process and it gets to 100% and then he gets the same corrupted hd files message over and over....

im thinking his hard drive went out? anyone got any advice on what he should do? im thinking of taking my old dead ps3 over his house to see how to remove the hd without moving his ps3 all arround to practice finding the hd and how to remove it .

thanks to everyone in advance for any help!!

Yeah. First, try removing the HDD and replacing it like the person above said. It could just be loose. If that doesn't work, you might have to get a new HDD. Gamespot has a nifty article on how to do it here. There are plenty of other articles around on how to do it. It's a pretty painless process.

If it was ejected during a game that would likely have constant save points, it's corrupt.

You might be able to get away with formatting it. If you put in another hard drive, it'll format itself by default.

Hopefully it'll replace boot sectors and partitions.
