Hi. Mods, please dont lock this thread. The PS2 forum is dead and I wont be able to get a response there. Ok. Hi guys. I am at the part where I'm fighting "The Fear" boss but I didnt get the thermal goggles way back at the old abandoned base! There's no way I can beat him without the thermal goggles! So what do I do now? I cant believe an MGS game is this flawed where I have to backtrack or fight a boss without a significant item? Are there thermal goggles somewhere in the boss area I can pick up? Or am I pretty much screwed? There's no way I can backtrack all the way through the water tunnels and everything because I fell from there after the Ocelot boss fight. I'm sure there are thermal goggles somewhere, right? Thanks in advance.
The them goggles are like 2 areas from there in the basment room thing :? . Uhhh just look for him it isnt that hard. where the bullets are coming from and his outline
Just pay attention to the canopy and you'll see a slight shimmer when Fear is jumping from branch to Branch. Shoot him, and he shoot come into view, just keep shooting him. If youve seen the Predator movies, thats the type of shimmering you'll see.

Basement room? Where you put on the scientist outfit, to sneak into the lab, or the warehouse?
Just pay attention to the canopy and you'll see a slight shimmer when Fear is jumping from branch to Branch. Shoot him, and he shoot come into view, just keep shooting him. If youve seen the Predator movies, thats the type of shimmering you'll see.

run around avoiding traps then wait till his stamina is low, he'll the go pick off some food and start eating it.. then BAM! shoot him while he's getting some munchies.
Spam stun grenades. Wait until he runs up on you and just spam them, he eventually dies after you take all his stamina away. You'll be able to pick up his boss camo as well after the fight is over.

Yeah I know. I specifically stated that I couldnt find any help in the PS2 because well it's dead there. No posts since 2007. This is about the only place where I can find help and it looks like these guys did a great job. I should be okay now. I'm working on the boss as we speak.
Climb up the nearest tree, he'll go into a jumping pattern and just listen. He usually goes counter clockwise to the right side behind Snake, shoot, then go back clockwise to when he's directly ahead of you, then he'll jump the the branch that's pretty much right below you, then he'll go back the same way and stopping sometimes to shoot. But the key thing is listening.
As soon as you start the fight, he'll be on top of the tree right in front of you, just follow the predator aura on the trees, he normally jumps on the same ones back and forth repeatedly, also, as his stamina goes down, he'll get slower, so it should be easier, just don't let him eat anyhing.

Well that's good for you. I'm just not use to the different style in MGS3. The only MGS I played was MGS2. It's a bit different but it's cool as long as I get to see the story and cutscenes.
If you have any rotten food on you just throw it out for him to eat. IIRC it took a nice piece out of his stamina each time, and left him open as he vomited.

They'd probably see this as trolling too with the mods being as relatively strict as they are.
More like power hungry. You can't even sneeze here without a mod making a stink about it. Even post reasons that isn't even close to what you're talking about. Saying "I'm not fond of game A" is considered "trolling".Go figure...

But he won't go for it until his stamina is low. Which sometimes, you could beat him before it gets that far. But it just slows him down though. You can't just wait for him to die, even though facing him sometimes could be a chore when you're not in the mood to face him lol
Why don't mods be more useful and stop people from spoiling MGS4.
I've already run across a few topics that already have.

I see people using profanity on IGN boards and they get away with it. Not that I would like for people to do that. It's just an example of how "strict" IGN is. They seem to be more liberal and casual.

Yeah true. I mean, you can still notify the mods. But they don't spend their ENTIRE DAY there with an itchy "suspend" finger like they're playing Street Fighter. But people there don't really care all that much. Moreless, they ain't going to cry and tell on you if you disagree with them. Unlike here when you have to walk on egg shells. Even though you're not the type of person that starts crap anyways. I've had my fair share of "WTF?" when I get that all too familiar "mod notification" everytime I pretty much blink the wrong way.
Well, I just took out "The Fear." You guys were right, he's not hard. As a matter of fact, he's really easy. I just stayed on the outskirts of the area and he just hopped from one branch to the other, back and forth. So it was too easy. He even went around grabbing portions of food but it didnt help him. I just kept at it. So the fear is no more. Thanks again everyone.
