I just got a ps3 a few days ago and need help deciding between these two games. I've always loved MGS but R2 seems to be awesome aswell. So, I can't get both, what would you reccommend?

Get MGS4 (MGS4 is in my top 5 games I've ever played) unless you have RFOM, although I warn you Konami did the worst job possible with Metal Gear Online, almost as if they didn't want people to play it. You should definitely play RFOM first, and if you have, get R2 with MGS4 next. Keep an eye out for some other titles as well, like the cute little LBP

Both games are great, so either way, you'll come out a winner. How much background do you know about MGS series? If you've played all the previous game/are up to speed on the story thus far, I'd say MGS4 might be the way to go. Once I was able to get some backstory on the MGS series, I picked up MGS4 and was blown away.

If youre looking for just plain fun multiplayer game, R2 would be the way to go. It also is boasting an excellent single player experience, so that'll be a plus.

In conclusion, if youre looking for:

a great single player experience = MGS4

a great multiplayer experience = R2

the best of both worlds = tough one, but I'd lean more towards R2 on this one.

Hope that helps! :D

If you love MGS get it but I think R2 will last longer. R2 has amazing online and a great story mode. MGS4 has an unmatched single player but multiplayer was just ok.

If you've played previous MGSs and liked them, definitely go for MGS4. If you haven't, I'd seriously recommend you to play the ones you're missing.

As for R2, I'd also seriously recommend getting it, because it's turning out to be a top class game. BTW, also get RFoM.

you'd really be missing out if you dont play both.

if you have budget constraints, then get R2 first, then you could play MGS4.

LOL..MGS4 of course! R2 maybe very good too, but MGS4 has got 10s across the board from many websites. Plus you like MGS games. This is a no brainer MGS4 for sure.

MGS4 is one of the best (if not THE best) single-player game I have ever played. If you're a MGS fan, you really have no excuse not to get MGS4. But if you're in the market for an online game, Resistance 2 is the way to go. If you can afford it, you should get both.

Well, to tell you the truth, MGS4 gameplay is anything like previous MGSs. Is not bad, but it's not the same, so you're probably a bit wrong on your MGS4 concept.

I know MGS4 is more action oriented and involves direct military battles, but I see that as diversity. But R2 looks like it has such good mp =(( dang it.

The way I see it, you can't lose with either game... and FYI, I've said many times that R2 will be my GotY, even when most people here root for MGS4.

So yeah, I agree R2 is gonna be awesome.

MGS4 is already a proven success. Resistance 2 looks incredibly promising, but you probably shouldn't play it before Fall of Man. Regardless of which you choose to get, the other will still be there when you want to buy it. Although, MGS4 is emphasized on the solo experience, Resistance is more on the multiplayer side - as with all multiplayer experiences, you will most likely want to get in on that early as it will die down, or worse, everyone is tenfold better than you are due to lack of experience and little familiarity with the levels, spawns, weapons, etc.

Great argument with R2's mp. I think that sold it. MGS4 will always be there with consistant SP. IF I'm gonna buy R2, get it while the gettin's good. Thanks man, and to all the others =).

All I know is that I have played and unlocked everything in MGS4 (about 6 times through) and have put on 65 hours on the online, so yeah, it has great replay value.

An the gameplay is still excellent, probably the best in any MGS, but I DO miss catching stuff and eating them.

R2 will be great, but its not my cup of tea, while MGS4 is. well, MGS ****ing 4-

That's a really tough choice, man. Having played the Resistance beta I can say the multiplayer is really fun and addicting. But if you've played the other MGS games, I'm gonna have to recommend MGS4. I just really can't recommend another game over this one. But if possible get both, for sure, whether it be now or in the future.
