The shotos are surprisingly hard to use at higher levels. But since you don't want them, 2/3 top tiers seem to fit your criteria (Yang and Fei) along with Cammy, Rufus, Ibuki...
I mentioned more rushdown-oriented characters though, maybe you'd rather play keep-away/zoning or poking instead?
I'm new to fighting games and i know street fighter 4 has been out for a while but I'm just sick of playing war games already so i went out and bought a copy of street fighter arcade addition. I'm playing on my dualshock for now but i have the street fighter [se] arcade stick on its way in the mail. I've been playing for a little but its been really hard finding a main character, i really don't want to play ryu or ken like every one else and I'm not really any good at charge characters. I'M spending allot of time on Replay channel watching high rank players but cant seem to get any where. I was interested in playing Abel after i saw a couple of his matches but i looked at his stats and everyone says hes not really that good i also tried Cody and guy but wasn't really interested because i found their playing style kinda boring. I've also used wrestlers like t-hawk and zangief but i found them awkward to move around with and weird to do their throws. i want to use a character with cool combos and is somewhat difficult but fun to use. I've done all the trials up to my ability on a Pad for all the characters i finished the most with el fuerte and used him for a little but his low stamina and bad recovery really hurt his play style. ... Could anyone tell me any tips on how to help me with finding a main or tell me what Ive been doing wrong so far??? Or does anyone just have any tips on what to do and what not to do with these characters??? ThanksNYSkate
i have one simple solution for you. stop playing this overrated unbalanced fighting game and go pick up Blazblue: Continuum Shift. It is the best fighter you will ever play.

Blazblue is overrated as well. It's simple and dumbed down, and I would consider the execution requirements for SF4 to be much high than Blazblue.
Hell, saying BB is the best fighter someone would ever play is just wrong. Especially when BB comes from the guys who made Guilty Gear.
Had you said Guilty Gear instead of Blazblue, I may have agreed with you. Blazblue will always be the dumbed down, hand holding, mainstream friendly version of Guilty Gear.

BBCS might be the best fighter will ever play if he has never played:
3rd Strike
The Guilty Gear series
Most of the KOF games
The Darkstalkers series
Arcana Heart 3
Mark of the Wolves
Capcom vs SNK 2
The Last Blade series
Most of the Samurai Shodown games
Hokuto no Ken
etc.
I don't really know who you should pick because I mainly pick either Ryu or Ken since day one but Ryu is a right force in good hands but I'd say Zangief players are quiet good if you can learn them.
[QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"]Try Guy or Juri. They might be more to your liking.NYSkatei might use guy but i think its hard to combo with him
Don't worry about how hard it may be to combo with a character. SF4 isn't THAT hard of a game to play. It gives beginner player a far amount of short cuts when playing.
And if you learn a hard to play character, you'll have a much easier time learning other characters, either in this game or if you play others.
Just pick a character you like. Don't worry if they are too bad or too good tier wise. Tiers only really take place in high level play, and even then they can be over come by the skill of the player.
SRK has a LOT of good information for EVERYTHING Street Fighter.
Just go to forums and Street Fighter IV series.

You're funny, every fighting game has a "tier list" there's always some character that has more "priority" then others.[QUOTE="OneSanitarium"][QUOTE="soulreaper-4"] People are so fu?k?n? ignorant. Johnny is D tier, yet he can still beat Eddie, assuming the Johnny player is skilled.

Yes, but tiers do play a role in the game to a certain extent. Is a fei long player going to space like a ryu player? Of course not they lay pressure.[QUOTE="OneSanitarium"][QUOTE="soulreaper-4"] People are so fu?k?n? ignorant. Fighting games will always be unbalanced to the eyes of the players. You're funny, every fighting game has a "tier list" there's always some character that has more "priority" then others. Yeah I already know people create their own tier list. I play SFIV, Blazblue, Marvel vs Capcom 3. But some people just search online for those so call tier list instead of trying and give a change to other players. There are people that say Adon sucks and i play superb with it. Heck even Gamerbee won last year's EVO using it.[QUOTE="Fightingfan"][QUOTE="OneSanitarium"]You're funny, every fighting game has a "tier list" there's always some character that has more "priority" then others.
