Ok, so I was watching the 20th anniversary demonstration that Kojima prductions did for MGS4...and was comparing it with the final version(im a comparison junkie XD )...and I noticed some thing was not the same. It was the sound!!! It sounded so much louder/crisper coming from the video demonstration compared to the one running on my PS3. The only thing I can think of it being is my sound system...which is just my HDTV . Ive got a 32" Sharp Aquos...and here are my two questions:

1. Can someone help me find a good surround sound system... I was looking at this one:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8822893&type=product&id=1207352155889

My budget is from 200-400 bucks

and my final question...

2. How much of a difference will this 5.1 surround sound system be from my HDTV?

I would suggest doing anything that is lossless. Onkyo has 2 in your price range or close. 605 and 606. Good luck.

I'll take a stab at the second question, being Taijiquan recommended a good reciever for your price (although you would need speakers as well). 5.1 sound is a big difference from standard television speakers. It immerses you more into the game and brings the game more to life. If you have the ability and money I would surely recommend a sound system. Try to go with a 7.1 sound system that supports TrueDolby HD 7.1 and DTS.....more movies are encoded that way on blue ray and it will be a better investment if and when they start applying the technology to games.

I have this one by samsung. I think it is great for the money. It works great with movies music and games. It's 1000 watts and the sub is nice. Good all around for the money. I didn't see anything wrong with the one by Sony you were looking at though. It's 900 watts but it's $50 cheaper. I just wanted to let you know I love mine and I suggest it to you.

I have that system and love it.

edit: guess i should say that it's just the receiver and all speakers were purchased separately. In the end, about $1600 all together.

This is what I have and I love it. It's worth the price. It comes with HDMI inputs and 2 Optical Inputs. I know it's a tad bit over $400 but it's worth it trust me.

Unless I have a second defective copy of MGS4 I don't think it outputs at 5.1. At first when I installed game data I had no sound so I took it back and got another copy. I noticed sound works but it's at 2.1 ch all my other games like haze and dbz and MLB the show all output at 5.1, my receiver is a Yamaha and it displays DTS and 5.1 in big text but when I play MGS4 I don't have anything coming through my receiver. I have posted topics here but get no replies from anyone, so I don't know if I am the only one experiencing problems with this or not.

There's always the Sound bar. I have the Yamaha YAS-70 that comes with an awesome subwoofer for my room and it does SUPERB making a virtual surround sound experience. A tad above your budget, but worth it if you don't want to go through the trouble of all the wiring and such. Of course, a true 5.1-7.1 surround sound system is ideal, but this is great if you don't have much room to work with, like me. Look it up, it's pretty nifty. All the others mentioned are awesome, too. I've tested them all out, and I was impressed.

yeah I'll answer your second question too, the sound surrounds you and you'll pretty much never want to go back. your way more immersed in the game and the sound is much clearer just make sure your using atleast optical cable
