hi i have a 20gb ps3 and i would like to buy a 60gb version. what are some of the different storage devices i can use to transfer it to my new ps3 when i buy one? Will an ipod or psp work? I dont have either of those now but I'm just looking for an easy way to transfer my hdd data to the new ps3 when i buy one. Are there any other ways besides storage devices? also my friend has a ps3 so maybe there is some way i can store my data on his hdd and copy it to my new ps3 when i get it? thanks for any help.

If you are only transferring game saves then all you need is a USB flash drive. You can pick a 512mb one up for like $20.

You, again. I repeat my post. If you're so hard up for more storage, why are you so opposed to putting a new hard drive in your 20 Gig? Save yourself $500 or more!

I'm scared of messing up my PS3 by trying to put in a new hdd. I'm a noob at these kind of things and I've never done this before. I'm considering a new 60GB PS3 because of the Wifi. And I got my ps3 at launch (they only had a few 20gb's left at my local gamestop) so I guess it was a big mistake. I should've waited and got a 60GB version.

It's up to you, but I promise it's easy. And there's 34028652347056 videos and websites showing you exactly what to do. :)

Game data cannot be transferred and doesnt need to be if it could because the game disk will reinstall it on the new PS3. The only thing you can transfer is game saves and they are usually less then a megabyte. Things from the PS Store like demos and games cant be transferred either they have to be downloaded again. Trust me, you wont need more then 512mb.

What's the difference between game data and game saves? If I can copy my game saves then that's good enough. As long as I can load up my game files on my other ps3.

There is a difference. but yeah, trust me on this one. I had to back up my game saves because I upgraded my 20GB HDD to 120GB, and a used a 512MB USB flash drive that I got for $20. And that was more then enough.

The 20GB doesnt have a slot for them but if you get a card reader that can connect via USB it works...I use an old 128MB Scandisk Memory card from my old digital camera and it works like a charm...game saves arent big enough to require a lot a space...I have Madden, Tiger Woods, Genji Days of the Blade, GT: HD, RFOM and Call of Duty 3...all backed up on my little 128MB memory card...I bet something like that nowadays would run you no more than $25-$30...you can probably pick that up at Best Buy...and as far as a HD check out Newegg...2.5" Notebook SATA Hard drive...should run you about $80-$120 bucks depending on size 80GB - 160GB...either way its not complicated...do some research and try and learn something instead of telling us how much of a "noob" you are...
