Hello, recently I bought a playstation 3 and it seems like everytime I sit down to play it for more than 30 minutes at a time I start to feel sick. It is like getting a headache or feeling nauseous not a really good feeling. I have an Xbox 360 and a lot of other systems and have never had this problem before. Is it making anyone else feel ill? Is there anything that I can do to get rid of this feeling or do I need to sell my system? I would really appreciate any help.

well as it states in most games instruction manuals, if you start to feel sick or dizzy, stop playing the game and go see a doctor.

But since you say that it only happens when u play ps3, im quite suspicious of your claims.

I imagine you are feeling sick from playing games that run at 60+ frames per second, such as any of the Call of Duty games. I remember when I used to feel sick from staring at these kinds of games for too long. Eventually, I think you will get used to it and it will not affect you anymore.

Here's something: Are you playing the Orange Box? For some reason, playing Half-Life 2 on ANY console or PC will automatically make me sick as hell. No other game will give me nausea except for Half-Life 2. I googled this problem, and it seems that I'm not the only one with this problem.

thats pretty weird. Although I started to feel real sick after playing Half Life, but that was on my laptop in a moving car, so that could've been motion sickness.

Never heard of someone getting sick from video games on one console and not on another. And quite frankly, that isn't possible. Either its the game your playing, (Mirrors Edge and many others are known to cause dizziness or nausea) or your a troll.

C, all of the above. The vomit and tears make a wonderful painting on the floor.

Well those are two ps3 ports that are known to have graphical glitches. Odd thing is that I felt nasuea playing bioshock on the 360 but not when I played it on the ps3. If what you're saying is based just on those games I recommend playing them on the 360 since you have one. Just play the ps3 exclusives on the ps3. Or you could send an email to the companies that make the games.

it might be because of the game's fps. there's something like angle of view or something (it's like how wide u can see in one screen or something, not sure), and i had the exact same problem with half-life2 on pc, becuz in that game that angle was less than usual games. but with fallout3 and bioshock, im not sure of those two.

No doubt, I just got finished with a Chapter and while the next one was loading, the message told me "you've been playing for more than an hour, get up and stretch, or try focusing on something in the distance," WTF?!

you have epilepsy which means that you'll get sick from light patterns and most likely from fps or anything that is first person. I got it as well but you'll eventually get use to it when playing games such as oblivion or fallout 3. i kno wut u r going thru especially feeling nausea and headache i hate that and can't play games for a while.

Thanks for all of the help and advice. I seriously don't think that I have epilepsy as I have never had a seizure in my life. I have a Playstation 1 2 & 3, a PSP, a gamecube, xbox and xbox 360 as well as a Nintendo 64 and this is the first time that I have ever had a single problem getting sick with any game I have played. There must be something with the graphics or else the games that is triggering it. I played Resistance 2 and never got sick.

I'm not sure why this thread carried on for two pages... :P

As I said in the third post, you are probably feeling sick from playing games that run at 60+ frames per second. You don't feel sick when playing Resistance 2 because it is capped at 30 frames.

No. People really do get sick. Like I said before, I have a couple of friends who just can't handle shooters. Here is a link for you non-believers.

P.S. Just because you and I don't get sick, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist for others...

Yeah, I couldn't play RE4 on the Wii because I got motion sickness all the time. I haven't got motion sickness so far on any game on the PS3, but the other day I was playing the FEAR 2 demo and I started to get dizzy. But maybe it was because I was too tired and just got off work.

It's called "simulation sickness" and it's basically a type of motion sickness some people get. When you feel like that you should at least try to take a break and get away from the screen for a while.

Lmao, Ps3 is too powerful i guess.

is it like a motion sickness type feeling? try to take breaks often, and look at something far away whenever possible.

It is a motion sickness type of feeling. I took my ps3 in a better lit room and I took a couple of those dramamine pills for motion sickness. The feeling went away, so I am hoping it will stay gone. Thanks for all the help.

When I got my PS3 for christmas I felt the same way the first day. It might have been because I played MGS4 non stop all day and that the speakers were up loud, and that I wasn't use to the nex-gen-ness of the ps3

I have that problem aswell. I feel like I'm gonna die if I play HL2 same with the first two Quake games. It's got something to do with the frame rates and poorly done polygons. Certain frame rates do a number on me.
