Netflix HD Question

Hey guys, was just wondering. When watching movies/tv shows on Netflix, does it automatically go in HD or do you have to set the movie to HD settings somehow? I am asking this because when I press the "select" button it says that the video quality is Low/SD.

It might be based on your internet connection, or it might be becuse you have a certain setting selected on the Netflix website and that is dictating the streaming quality.
