As of December 18 the firmware was 2.1, so yes almost 2 months. Expect the next firmare update when Home is released, mebe we will get in game XMB but we will just have to wait and see.
Sony confirmed earlier this year that XMB is coming in '08, and usually when they finally admit to working on something, it comes out shortly after. So, I'm hoping that in game XMB comes before Home - Home is just a game it won't 'require' a firmware update to use it, I'm in the beta and it's treated just like a game so Home and firmware updates have no hooks to eachother yfm.
